Is the TRD Sport a noticeably smoother ride on roads ?

    Working on it ...
I was really on the fence about getting another Off Road or going Sport this time. Big time conflict. However I do ~ 24,000 miles a year and 94% of that is on paved roads. The Sport just had such a fine ride that just made more sense. I take my TRD Sport everywhere - In the mountains skiing and on occasion off roads. It has not disappointed me one time. It has been a very reliable and ... comfortable truck. In fact of my four Toyota pick ups is by far the most comfortable of them.

    No regrets.

My Sport suspension is fairly stiff. Just the way I like it. Provides good driver feedback. Nothing mushy about it. Goes well with the manual transmission.

I test drove both TRD OR and TRD Sport before I purchased my sport and I thought the OR was a little bouncy and the sport was more firm. However, I didn't choose the sport because of the ride though, I was told by the salesman that the sport is more tuned for highway/city drive commuting which is what I was looking for. Anyhow, I replaced my stock suspension anyway with Bilstein 6112/5100 so my truck is a little bouncy as well now.

So, to have the best of both worlds have a sway bar with O.R. shocks ? Maybe, Sport front coil over springs with O.R. shocks ?

I liked the Sport styling, and initially wanted that version, until I test drove the Off-road immediately after driving a Sport. Nice typical Pennsylvania test loop of highway and typical potholes and uneven country roads. I liked the way the Off-road absorbed the bumps and softer ride. The Sport telegraphed every bump too much for my liking.

I too being from western PA (N.W.) agree that the Sport would be best suited for area's that have smoother highways.

Hard to say? But if it rides and handles well for you, then that is all that matters.

I'm in a good spot myself, but I think my shocks are getting worn.

I like the firm sport feel , to me it feels like a truck . The old Dodge Power Wagons you couldn't drink in them and you even bounced into the headliner sometimes and I don't even think they had a liner . Real rough road you kinda flew around in there and had to hold on tight .

I wish I test drove a Sport. The salesman told me that the Sport suspension was the same as the Off Road (which I bought). o_O I didn’t know any better at the time. I did put on front/rear bigger sway bars which helped.

I felt exactly the same and bought the sport based on my test drives. I drive street 99.9% of the time.
Price had nothing to do with it.

The ride will be noticeably less FIRM/STIFF than the A TRD Sport, (from what I have learned on TW).

Our 20 Sport is WAY stiffer/firmer than my 99 SR5, but it has also been due for new shocks for over 5 years now, to be fair.

The suspension on my Sport was extremely harsh over bumps and roads here are quite bad. I put on a Pro suspension (take-off) and the improvement is considerable. Cornering and road holding seem unchanged. I did test drive an Off Road and the suspension seemed too soft with way too much lean on corners. I believe the Sport and Pro share the same front sway bar while the OR has a smaller diameter sway bar which may account for part of the difference.

    A few.
My 2019 is a trd offroad. I owned 2 2nd gen trd sports and the sports had a better on road ride imo. Until I installed the bilstein 5100s on my 2019.

A buddy has a 2019 trd that he's returned the suspension back to all the factory components...imo, it doesn't ride any different than my sr5 with the exception of more wind noise in the cab.

Completely agree. Drove sport, limited, and OR. OR was by far the smoothest.

That is correct. Op just needs to look at the suspension specs. OR stock has most give to be optimized for rough terrain handling.
