So now my dilemma… I want to run 265/70/17 Ridge Grapplers and I liked the slightly more negative offset offered by the 17” TRD 4Runner wheel when compared to my factory 16” TRD Pro Tacoma wheel.

So is there an aftermarket 17x7” wheel that has the same offset (+4 mm) as the factory 17” TRD 4Runner wheel that will fit the hubs of my 2021 Tacoma?

I recently traded in my 2020 Taco for a 2021 Taco, had the matte gray wheels on both trucks without a problem.

If it wouldn’t be too much trouble, could you post a pic of that set-up?

    Thanks!

There does seem to be variance between these ‘20 and ‘21 models. Almost impossible to believe that there would be this much difference in the tolerances between hubs. I wonder if it has anything to do with whether the truck is a Sport, OR, or Pro? And even given that, it seems unlikely there should be any variance between models.

For $172 plus shipping, I’m tempted just to order one of these wheels and test fit it on my truck. If it works, I’ll order three more and be done with it.

If it doesn’t work, I’m sure I could sell one rim without too much trouble.

I’m surprised that those rims don’t stick out further past the flares given that they are 1.5” wider than the factory wheels. More positive offset I’m guessing, keeping more of the wheel under the fender.

Did you say that you were running a 265/65/17 tire without any clearance issues with the steering components or fender rubbing? Wonder if a 265/70/17 tire would clear?

I couldn't really answer the question for sure but I'm not sure if there would be any variances between the models. My 20 was an SR and the 21 is an Off-road, and again the wheels fit perfect in both trucks. The wheels look great and I personally prefer the look over any of the aftermarket wheels. I would go with your instinct and order one and test it out. I am confident they will fit fine.

My preference is for the factory Toyota 4Runner TRD wheel also (likely in gunmetal gray) given the look, the size, the ability to get a new wheel through a Toyota dealership, etc. I’m just an old-school guy who never got on the black wheel bandwagon, which is the main reason I’m looking to swap out my black 16” TRD wheels to a wheel with the same design, just in a different color and 17” diameter.

I think that I’ll likely proceed with ordering one and test-fitting it. If it is tight, I likely will attempt to hone the inner surface of the wheel to smooth out any rough edges and maybe take it down a 0.01 or so.

Good info. Love the blue also. Wonder what the ‘22 special color will be?

I can completely relate to you. I'm in my early/mid 30s and I feel old school myself. Some people think I need to be more modern and start wearing those "skinny jeans", which is a heck NO for me, LOL. Anyway, I have never really been a fan of the black wheels myself, although I have started to like them a little more but not completely which is why I ended up going for what I would say is in the middle (the matte gray). See attached.

    Your rig looks great!

My dilemma is still between the matte gray and the gunmetal gray wheel. The gunmetal gray seems to be light-dependent, especially with the magnetic gray paint on the truck.

The gunmetal gray wheel seem to almost perfectly match the magnetic gray metallic paint on the truck in some situations, but can look darker in other lighting and when they are dirty it would seem.

I’ve been debating between those two wheel colors for two weeks now!

I personally love the look of the newer gunmetal gray, which wasn't available (I think) when I originally bought the wheels for my 2020. I am considering buying them (the gunmetal) for my 2018 white sport, but definitely not in the budget in the near future. Maybe later in the year, if I can get a good deal. I think they look great on both the white and MGM Tacos! Go for it man! I'm as excited as you to see them on your truck!

Here is a link for some of the MGM with the matte gray wheels, I have to say that they look very sharp as well!

Does anyone know how these wheels would look on quicksand? I feel like the black has been done a lot and bronze could be too matchy matchy. Would love to see if anyone has any pics.

FYI... A lot of people, me included, have gotten damaged rims (usually a deep ding in the outer lip) from BAM. It's my theory that they offer the lowest price on wheels (and other parts) because they're selling scratch and dent items. If people don't complain, it's a win, if they do, they either offer some additional percentage off, or provide a full return. This and other complaints is why the Mods have banned BAM links from the board.

Don't be soured on ordering rims from other dealers. Most other dealers don't have these issues.

I’ve seen “BAM“ quoted several times on these threads. What does that refer to?

I’m probably just going to order one directly from my local Toyota dealer. It will cost more, but that way if there are any imperfections or problems, hopefully they will work with me.

If the thing fits, I’ll probably just order the other three from them also.

Looks good. I’ve decided to go with the gunmetal gray wheels.

I can’t quite make out the numbers in the pic… What size tires do you have on your rig - 265/70/17?
