This is cool and one heck of a feat but Don't let it distract you from the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 City Championship game vs. Andrew Johnson High School, including the game winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, Bubba "Spare Tire' Dixon :D

The biggest advantage to owning a Tacoma is the small size. They are easier to drive in traffic, park at the mall, and maneuver off road.

The biggest disadvantage to owning a Tacoma is the small size. The cabs are smaller and less comfortable, beds are smaller, plus you have limited towing and hauling capability

You're not going to haul much in a Tacoma regardless of bed length so for me it's about taking advantage of the small size. If I can't get it in a Tacoma that is what the 10'X6' utility trailer is for.

The Access Cab with 6' bed and the Double Cab with 5' bed are the same overall length and wheelbase. Pick one. If you don't need room for rear seat passengers the Access Cab is cheaper and does give you some added bed length. If you need room for rear seat passengers get the Double Cab. There is nothing I can fit in a 6' Tacoma bed that I can't find a way to make it work with the 5' bed.

The DCLB trucks give you all of the Tacoma's disadvantages, with none of the advantages. You have a truck virtually the same overall length as a 1/2 ton extended cab. But you still have the smaller cab along with limited towing and hauling capability. The rear seat on a 1/2 ton extended cab is bigger than the rear seat in a DC Tacoma, the bed is 6 1/2' plus is wider and deeper. You also get significantly better hauling and towing capability. With fuel mileage the same if not better.

Which is why I leased my 2021.
I prefer my 2004 Tacoma Dbl Cab over it.

The 2021 is a nice looking truck, but, get rid of all the technology bull shit.
I park my 04 next to my 2021, I'll get in my 04 and drive it first.

The funny part is that EVERYONE with a 6' bed has said "This is why I didn't buy a 5' bed" haha.

But seriously, if you fork mount a bike to the rail behind the cab, the tailgate can shut on a 6' bed, meaning wheels and other crap can just stay back there without straps. I have alot more room around my bed rack when opening my rtt (on the cab side) because I didnt have to worry about it hanging over the rear. My pop up tent just slides right in without needing to be angled. My cooler and camp case fit on the same side, lengthwise. Plywood sits a little lower toward the cab... it feels safer anyway without straps. Your mom really likes it more. Fishing poles, snowboards, skis, and surfboards can fit under the cover secured. I think it looks better... the body line in the lower doors continues onto the bed. I can assert my dominance next to a short bed at Lowe's. The list really goes on... kinda like my longbed.

Well luckily for you, that extra turning circle will send you careening down a mountain side when you cant make the switch back. And luckily for you the short bed will assert it's dominance over your long bed when you get high centered and he just drives by you. Oh and that extra foot of truck also adds weight, which takes away from our already low payload. :D
Also, longer is often less stiff, so you noodle more than the shorter ones:eek:
Oh and everyone else thinks the short bed looks better:rofl:
Also, I have more options at turning down friends with larger furniture. "Sorry, my truck just can't do that" :D

It's ok bro, it's not the size of the bed, it's how you use it right?

The extra 13 inches of bed makes a big difference for the things I do/gear I carry not to mention the fact that I can sleep in the LB when camping. The maneuverability complaints are minor in my typical driving environments. For me the DCLB offers max capability and I have no regrets.

A LB Tacoma is still shorter than a full size; its narrower (my favorite part of the Tacoma); and its lower. The LB makes no difference driving down the highway but makes a hell of a difference when loading a portable 5x5 fish house; sled, auger, buckets, rods...you get the idea. Then there is a 16-ft kayak that I can more safely carry (locally) with a bed extender; kids dorm room that I needed every square inch of the LB, and of course sleeping in the back not possible in the 5-foot bed for most. Love my LB Tacoma. No downside for me whatsoever.

looks like you would have to make the Tacoma frame longer given the box length forward of the rear axle.

A 6’ bed can fit a quad with the tailgate up. Having a 5’ bed precludes me from getting a rear bumper with swingout.
