27F in the truck for less than a Benjamin. Hard to justify spending more than three times that amount. Plus, my fear that if it was something else, I may need that money.

So far so good.

Now back to running electrical for the bike. that's where what little intellectual horsepower, and similar amounts of money, must be directed. Already missed two beautiful weekends of riding.

Sat at the dealer for an hour and a half waiting on my truck. Pretty sure they overbooked or something. Shouldn't have taken that long for just a fluid check and tire rotation, but whatever I didn't have much to do anyways really.

I did think I found my "beater with a heater". Stopped by and drove it, rough around the edges, but ran pretty well despite a finicky TPS sensor. 1995 Eagle Talon ESI. At this point I think it has close to 270K miles on it (speedo stopped working a couple years ago), but the engine is not original (I actually helped replace it back in the day) nor is the transmission and clutch. The stage 2 clutch still felt like it has plenty of life left in it. Gonna need a set of tires and rocker panels to pass inspection, but other than that just a bunch of nick-nacky shit. It has a full on stainless steel exhaust complete with SS header and fart can. Not gonna be sneaking through the neighborhood, but I hate to get rid of it since it's quite expensive. Gonna make my final decision here in a day or so, but I think I'm gonna do it. I know, a 26 year old daily driver, I'm crazy....

 

Especially a dsm... that being said, I know what engine is in that thing. DO IT

 

It's not the turbo 4G63 engine, just the regular DOHC. It did just have the timing belt done though, so that will probably outlive the car. If it snaps, it's gonna be a part out. The car is worth way more in parts than what I plan on paying for it. No mods planned at all besides a metric shittone of cleaning and other little shit to get it on the road. It's drive able now, but it needs some love before I feel comfortable with it. The cool thing is I see none of these or the Eclipse variants around anymore.

Oddly enough the owner said it doesn't like to start or go into reverse for just anybody. I had no problem at all with it. That and she said the check engine light is on most of the times. Ironically it didn't come on for me. She was kinda astounded at it all. Wonder if that's a sign I should just get it...

Yup, you are correct. I don't know why we replaced it, but the replacement engine came out of a Eclipse. That was when my friend smashed his hand pretty good when we dropped it in. Of course, we may or may not have been slightly high at the time, not sure It gets around 30mpg, that's what I'm mostly focusing on at the moment. That and I miss driving a manual transmission.

The FWD's used the 420A 2.0L DOHC that was also found in some Neon's of the era (well a variant, not the exact engine code). A screaming 140HP at 6,000 RPM's. I didn't push it that far; I needed ear plugs at 4,000RPM's.

 

At one point Diamond Star Motors (joint venture between Mitsu and Chrysler) produced the NA engine for them. It was basically a Dodge Neon engine. The turbo mill was all Mitsubishi though. At least that's how I remember it

I do believe the 2 gen Eclipse used a carbon copy of the Neon engine. I think it was produced in Illinois at the Mitsubishi Galant/Chrysler Sebring plant

That's it, I knew it was something like this, but couldn't remember fully. These were the cars to have when I got my drivers license in '06, but unfortunately the "Fast n' Furious" crowd got to them or they just rotted away completely. I haven't seen one in YEARS. It was like driving an oversized go-kart, in a good way. I was giggling the entire time. Just sent her the text I wanted it, so hopefully this one will pan out. Re-titling in PA is a PITA, but I still have the tags from my GTI that I'm gonna use.
