I have a 2013 TRD V6 4 door and plan to tow a 1500lb trailer with a 3200lb car on it. The distance will about 60 miles each way once a month and 140 miles each way 4/5 times a year.

What would be the best brake controller? Recommendations?

    What are your opinions

Gonna be a long day. Hope there are no hills.

    Basically, it's gonna suck.

Assuming you have a tow package you should be fine. Sounds like it’s a one time thing. If you’re going to be towing that regularly then that’s a different conversation. Just take it slow and leave plenty of room between you and the car in front of you. And be sure the trailer has brakes.

Towed probably close to 5k with my 14. Itll take you longer to do anything. Speed up slow down etc. But i felt it did fine. You definitely need to stay out of overdrive(D) unless your on absolutely flat ground

You'll be fine assuming it has brakes on it. Whether they are surge or electric with associated controller. Standard towing caution applies with regards to driving though.

I towed truck and trailer total weight 10820 from IN to LA with an overloaded 6x12 uhaul trailer. Zero concerns there and every time I've rented a uhaul trailer, the surge brakes have worked well.

Now the Tacoma isn't an ideal towing vehicle, so if you find yourself towing heavy all the time, start thinking full size.
