Or how about the 0.0265% that use their bed:D

Seriously though, $40k for an off road vehicle these days is pretty standard. Not sure where you go, but most vehicles I see off roading, are Rubicons, Tacos and 4Runners, rangers f150's rams etc and most of those are over 40k. And even the older, cheaper vehicles people buy, can hit near 30k by the time you take into account all the mods.

No offense to short bed owners (trust me, I dont go around making fun of SB owners for this, its a me thing) but imo short beds just look disproportionate. It took me a while to see it but the bed being shorter than the cab (dc only) just looks very weird to me, a dclb or even a ac(lb?) Both look like normal trucks.

I also didnt want to end up wishing I had a 6ft bed...for whatever reason that maybe, as im not an extreme offroader I dont ever see myself wishing I had that extra 12in of rock clearing abilities.

This. I thought short beds looked stupid for the longest time. The short beds do look more normal to me nowadays since just about every Taco on the road is a short bed. Just an exposure thing I guess

I swore up and down that I wouldn't own a short bed. Ultimately it boiled down to the fact I will have kids and need to haul them around down the road. Unfortunately I can't (legally) throw them in the truck bed to haul them around, so I settled for a SB.

With that said, I think most folks will be ok w/ a short bed if I sell the truck. I still agree the AC is superior from a functionality standpoint.

No offense taken, I think the reverse. To me the LB is just to long and ungainly in many situations and truly not worth it unless you need it for work.

But the fact that a thread had to be made to justify owning a 6ft bed, means the short bed has already won the argument...:D

I can definitely see the opposite side of how dclb look. Actually, I was looking at pic of one earlier this morning and for some reason it just looked insanely long, I didnt know why, i think it was the roof rack was extra long off the cab on both ends for some reason or the way the pic was taken, i dunno, it just didnt look like a typical dclb. I can imagine thats how some people see them as well.

I just got a 2021 SR5 V6 W4D Access Cab - love it. Took forever to find one they are rare birds.

If I won the lottery I would pay it off and buy a double cab to compliment it.
I'd keep my 2017 Subaru Forester for general comfort cruising and I'd buy 2 Subaru CrossTreks for the kids,
unless they wanted one of these trucks.

If we didn't have kayaks the double cab would have been fine with me - I like 'em both.

Seriously though... claiming longbeds dont have a turning radius tight enough, and then saying you see f150s and rams on those tails negates your argument on that. Also, what kind of trails are you driving that have the ability to high center a rig with enough room for another truck "to cruise right by"? I rarely see a trail this stout with wiggle room for my truck... much less two. This can clearly only happen to someone fucking around in the mall overflow lot. In which case you should absolutely make a meme out of it.

I have seen F350's on the trails that can take them. A man has to know his limitations and the mall is yours:D

Notice, how short bed owners get their panties in a bunch and post in threads that talk about the benefits of long beds... not so much the other way around...

There is literally only one benefit to the long bed, more room. That's literally it, what's this "benefits" crap, lol. Seems like the LB guys are compensating for something and have the smaller......:bananadance:

This back and forth is fun. Either way, enjoy your truck....

I think I would definitely get some use out of the extra foot if I had it. But it just wasn't an option for where I live. I picked up a cheap bed extender from Harbor Freight for some of the longer stuff.

    • Wish I had a LB

I have property that is located three states away so I travel for one with a Stihl FS240 trimmer that is about 6 ft. long which is nice to have a long bed for being that it goes right along one side. It's leaves the other side under my Diamondback cover open for storage containers.

    Working on it ...
These threads are funny. First I had to defend my choice of buying a TRD Sport versus buying another off-road. Now it seems having to defend my choice of getting a double cab versus access cab and lastly a double cab with a long bed. Oh, and don’t forget the fact that I have to also defend - it seems having an automatic transmission which has been my first one in over 30 years :argue:

Want to know the real reason why I bought my truck? I hope you all are sitting down for this ... I bought it because I LIKE it! I have an 85 pound dog who likes the fact that I got him the double cab. I work my truck more than I play with it and if it came in a 7 foot bed I probably would’ve like that. I’ve had it in snow when I go skiing and I’ve had it off road and it hasn’t blinked yet. But it is not a toy or is it a trophy, it needs to earn its keep.

On a sidenote, in the year and a quarter that I have owned it I believe I’ve been to the mall with it twice. Once was yesterday because I had an eye appointment and that’s where my eye doctor is. The other time is when Sears and Roebuck was going out of business and I was buying some discounted tools. Lastly, I just want to note that my man parts are just fine. No need to be compensating for anything here. :D

Enjoy your trucks you all. I know I do.

For anyone on the fence about this particular decision, just do what I did and get one of each.

To me, the DCLB looks too long overall. Proportions are good. The DCSB looks correct lengthwise, but is not proportionate. The ultimate is the ACLB. Too bad I need 4 full doors all the time.
