    Ok.

My truck cab smells like ol' tube socks that have been lounging in a locker for a few days after a long distance run. Just a stale dead musky smell.

I've tried the normal variants of car air freshener, trees, clip-ons, ozone, frebreze.......cleaned the interior multiple times, opened vents and doors looking for dead things........ I think the scent is just from 15 years of odors wafting through the truck.

I'm thinking about using a couple of incense sticks laying on top of the cabin air filter to help remove the dead musky smell. Nothing fruity like patchouli or flowers or the funky names on air fresheners (arctic breeze, what is that?). More like a sandalwood or jasmine type of scent.

My gripe about these car smellers is they come on insanely eye watering strong, then die off in a couple of weeks.

Anyone try incense instead of the common car stinkers?

Check your headliners and carpets for mold or moisture. Have you had your carpets and seats professionally cleaned?

Did that. No mold or moisture.

Pro cleaners are beyond the budget at this time. Covid has our family income down by nearly 75%.

Incense leaves a lot of dust behind. It puts a layer of dust on everything. And thats in an open plan house, I wouldnt even try it in a 100 cf space like a vehicle cab.

Try taking a bissell green machine to your seats and carpets, and enzyme based cleaners.

    @Rock Lobster

Sorry, you misunderstand. I will not burn the incense. Just lay the stick on top of the cabin air filter. I figure the cabin fan will pull air over the incense and into the cab.

I presume you've checked and/or replaced the cabin air filter already?

Natures Miracle is a good enzyme based scent killer. Definitely get the unscented version.

Ah. No, that won't do much of anything.

I use this whenever I button up and store my camper. It lasts for months.

And second the natures miracle. Use a whole bottle and let it air out, windows down, on a sunny day.

I've had fantastic luck with Ozone generators. Super bad for you to breathe or be exposed to but works wonders on smells.

I usually turn on the car, the the blower to recirculate and let it run for 30 minutes. Hold my breath and shut the car and generator down (most have timers) and let it sit for another hour. Then open all the windows for a few hours to air out...

just thinking outside the box here
but have you tried using deodorant?
    maybe the smell is you??
maybe the truck doesnt smell, until you get in it... thats why every time you get in it you smell it...

lend your car to a friend, see if they smell the same smell when they use it.

they must use it alone, for testing purposes you can not be present at the moment....

    Thats kinda funny.

I have a bottle of Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover for the occasional indoor accident from my dog. It is unscented. I will give that a try.

When the weather is more consistent, I should give the interior a scrub and suck up the water with my shop vac.

Zep makes an industrial strength odor remover. Get it at Home Depot or Lowe’s for a few bucks. Spray down the upholstery. It will be a strong smell at first but will decrease in intensity in a few days.

Thanks. I appreciate your concern about my hygiene and personal smell. I can assure you that is not the issue. Showers and deodorant each day. Wife has a super sensitive nose. She says my truck smells. Hmmmmm......maybe I need to rethink the smell.......it'll keep her out of the truck.

BTW, I will not loan my truck to a friend. Just like I won't loan money to a friend.

Can we put you back into the box??

I transport wet nasty dogs whenever I'm camping. I now bissell my truck twice a year, with the enzyme spray. It really works to make the interior tolerable.
