    Things you might want

Dana 44 (not the strongest but priced decent and around the same strength as a Toyota rear, come in full size and narrow width)

Corporate 14bolt (lots of these around as you're finding out, some are full float some are semi, some have drums some have discs, some are dually some are single, some are narrow)

Ford 8.8 (easy to find from under explorers, strong and cheap, pretty much fit right under a taco as is)

Dana 60 (getting pricey, lots of shit varies on them, verify what it came out of)

Ford 9" (fuck you'd have to read a book on what has em and what the specs are)

Sterling 10"/10.5" (same rules as Ford 9")

Go to the pull n save in Gilbert and grab a Ford 8.8 from a 96-99 explorer, you get discs, a good strong diff, 5 lug like the rest of your truck, sometimes a limited slip (they say on them) and they pretty much bolt up on a 5 lug truck

Yup, lots of people put 60 or 14b outers on them to make them full floaters.

In a light crawler you get more clearance than tons with lots of gear choices and good strength

so, might be a dumb question. Car-part will let me pick the gear ratio, but cheapest rear axle is 225 without a limited slip. However, pick and pull prices the rear axles at 165 for a rear axle. They dont list their ratios, how would i determine that on my own?

Ratios are printed on a tag bolted to the diff cover on ford axles

You can also count the teeth on the ring gear and divide them by the teeth on the pinion, that's an easy way too
