I have a 2018 tacoma trd pro, bought it as is with a 2inch lift. Cleaning mud out of the wheel wells the other day and noticed this bracket rubs the gas tank! This truck gets used off road quite a bit, and I'm glad I noticed it when I did. There isn't a hole yet but this needs to be fixed asap. Anyone ever see this issue? I got ahold of the small dealership we got the truck from, intending to get lift kit brand and info.

You might need a drill and tap, but move it back would be my recommendation, hole or no hole

    Welcome aboard Shane

Are you referring to relocating the bracket and shackle* piece as well?.. I thought maybe I can unbolt the cable guide bracket and bend it some, then mount directly to the top leafspring. But then the shackle piece around the leaf spring is bolted or fixed to the bottom leafspring. Is the bolt on top necessary? Could I remove the bolt and bend the excess material over the top of the top leafspring?.. hope this makes sense lol

OP, that bracket location isn't stock. It got moved when the lift got put on b/c the new leaf spring brackets didn't match with the original leafs. I had to do the same a few weeks back. You can move that bracket where ever you want.

Is that shackle piece attached underneath? I'll relocate the cable guide bracket but then the bolt going through the shackle piece is the part hitting the gas tank.

It looks like it isn't the bracket rubbing but the end of the bolt going through the bracket. Might be easily solved by reversing the direction of the bolt so that the head is in the inside or without changing orientation by cutting off the threads that extend past the nut.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Maybe if you just reverse the bolt so that the bolt head is on the gas tank side of the spring? (Duh)

Yea the bolt is the part rubbing. I just think it's going to be a pain in the ass to switch the bolt around. I'll jack up the chassis later and see if the bolt clears the tank enough to pull it out and put it in from the tank side. If not... I gotta drop the tank. Thank you all for the input!!

    That. ^^

You should be able to eyeball it and know if it will make any difference. If it will, looks like some penetrating fluid would be in your favor.

^^ +1 both of these. That leaf spring clamp is not moveable. The parking brake cable bracket is moveable, but that's not your issue.

As mentioned above, it looks like the exposed threads on the clamp's bolt are too long. Either flip the bolt around (if you can actually get it in from the tank side) or trim the ends of the threads off.

Depending on your shocks you might need to disconnect the one on that side to allow the leaf to droop down far enough to clear. Just keep an eye on the brake lines when you do it.
