Read some stuff here and there about this stuff even noticed an online book written... checked on Author and they made him out to be a quack. However I do believe there may be something to this. Seems that your body operates best at a certain level and is healthier when you are at that level. I’m 55 and hope to stay as fit as body will allow for as long as possible. Any words of wisdom one way or another on this?

Too many animal products in your diet makes your body ph acidic, and diseases are more virulent below 7.

A diet rich with plants, nuts, fruits, veggies, etc makes the body more alkaline and inherently becomes an environment diseases have trouble proliferating in.

Can you build your body up better because of body being more Alkaline? I know your body needs certain things from all the food groups. I know I use to work out like a madman and made some gains and got stronger! However as hard as I worked or quite possibly overworked I didn’t get where I wanted before the accident that ended it. Hurt shoulder bad enough that I couldn’t afford to get it fixed. Tore off the ligament that holds clavicle down. They had a long recovery and no guarantees operation that I could get that wasn’t ever going to be an option. Shoulder is bad but I can still work out and need to. Another thing is my Son who is super skinny... I told him after you get married you’ll put on weight but he’s 32 now and I don’t think it’s gonna happen. I wish I could help him put on some weight and do it the right way. I know he feels self conscious about that.

    The body needs animal protein.

Humans are not made from plants.

Eat a balanced diet and drop all the fade nonsense.

I have never seen a Vegetarian who looked healthy. They always look anemic, pale, weak, frail......just not healthy looking.

In truth, 3500 calories equates to a pound. Doesn't matter if the 3500 is meat or grass. Of course, some foods are offer more sustenance to the body than others.

Yeah I don’t get the vegetarians either they are denying the fact that they are Omnivores. I think it’d be interesting to see one stuck somewhere with no vegetables or fruit available. Only a freezer full of pork, beef, poultry and fish. I bet they’d eat like it was going out of style and damn glad to have it. However we as omnivores are supposed to eat some of all of it. Our bodies get acidic if we don’t eat it all and have to make up for it somehow. I don’t understand it all but as I get older I’m getting more concerned about it. Hate going to doctor and the things they like to do to you. I like all foods and just wanna be healthy so I can chase my grandkids for awhile longer.

Your body is going to maintain a ph balance. Do not fall for marketing. We have a robust gutmicrobiome as well as organs that take of all the b.s.
stay hydrated and don’t go extreme eating any direction, and wa lah your body will have a nice steady ph.

If anyone tries to sell any “magic” or “cure” its garbage. Few celebrities tried to buy in and back the PH water 3 years ago and lost a huge lawsuit. Data doesn’t back up the claims.

Good to know my thoughts are that in our western diets and how they do lean toward acidic that we might need to get back to a balance. My Son is rather skinny and is still that way at 31. I see what he eats and wonder why his body isn’t bulking up... ever. May not be true I’m just wondering if what he eats isn’t empty nutrients or if his body to get into balance isn’t robbing Peter to pay Paul. By that I mean robbing muscle and fat to be balanced. I was skinny but I married a wife that can cook and weight lifting toned me up. Now I’m old and want to do what’s best for body as long as possible.

Weight gain (or loss) is all about consumed calories relative to maintenance calories. You develop metabolic adaptations up and down. Ie. your metabolism adjust. That’s why you stop losing weight when you drop your calories after a few weeks.
Also why if you’ve ever been fat (i was) you sort of hit a max weight and you kinda gotta try to gain weight at a certain point.

Your body breaks everything down into chemicals/elements.

We usually call foods “healthy” because that given food is nutrient dense, and not caloric dense, so we can eat a higher volume of it with calories being Same.

Any suggestions on what I can tell my Son to do to gain weight. He is skin and bone and doesn’t look very healthy or for that fact fed.

Our BJJ professor is a vegan and fought in Bellator previously. Dude definitely doesn't look anemic or weak. I'm not on the vegan bandwagon at all, well, because burgers, but I try not to lump all vegetarians/vegans into the typical stereotype. The same could be said of us carnivores that we look fat and are unhealthy (if we base that off the midwest/south stereotype).

Tell your son to download a calorie tracking app. Track for a few days, if he doesn't gain or lose weight that's his maintenance.
Then add a few hundred calories see if we start to gain.

Honestly, he needs to work on those habits on his own. I doubt he's clueless at 32.
