Hi, I was going to purchase the Voodoo rack & brackets, which allows the hard cover to be mounted as well. Got a bit discouraged by the rust &flaking issues and customer support -does anybody know if that is still the case? Is there another manufacturer which makes similar set up?
    Thanks!

I can't say I've had any issues with mine. I also don't leave them on year round and I do store them in a garage when not in use. The only "flaking" I've had was a bit of thinning in the powder coat which would be expected from the pieces moving against one another. Nothing more than I'd expect out of any other product though. The model shown in your photo is slightly different than the model I have.

The rust is easily fixable with a little cleaning and spray paint = good as new. Once you have the product installed and working, you shouldn't need customer support after that. Even though I bought mine off of another TW member, I love mine!

You can run any rack you want as long as you get a tonneau that mounts on the inside of the bed rails.

Do you already have a tonneau cover or will you be purchasing a new cover and rack. If you are going to be purchasing a new cover and rack their are a lot of options. I currently have a retrax one XR on order plus an uptopoverland mid height rack on order. Love that I can still retract the bed cover and hang my bike over the tailgate.

A lot of people are also running the diamond back cover. Frontrunner, Uptopoverland, kb voodoo, and chassis unlimited all make racks that work with a diamondback

    I already have Toyota's hard cover (tri-fold).
"Stupid" question-with these cross bars being so bulky-how do you attach stuff to them? Is there a special nut and bolt to be inserted into the slot?
I'm thinking about ski rack, basket etc.
This photo shows Yakima's basket, I'm quite sure the bracket would be too small:

Even with my KB Voodoo ones, I had to go to Menards to get longer bolts to mount my RTT.
