How long did you have to wait for your 2021 factory order?

I think the DCsB looks terrible. It doesn’t look as bad as the big 4 door tundra with a small bed - where it looks like a fat man wearing a thong

I personally think the DCLB tacoma looks right proportion wise where the rear bed matches the front bed better

 

I'm sure this has been asked many times but, my dealerships sales coordinator sent me a sheet that shows my allocated tacoma specs. There is a VIN number that I am assuming is a temp one. Is there any way to use that number to track build updates/estimates or do I have to get that sent to me from the dealership. Also, if I now have a temp VIN, does that mean that there should be time estimates on the "pipeline". First time buying a new truck... help.

 

My truck, while being built, the dealer gave me an update every week on Monday. They had a dealer daily computer system they would look in.
When it went from built to transport, they kept updating me, as they have a system it updates, at the dealership computer.

My ETA from build to arrival was off (early) by 2 days.

 

My dealer had an estimated build date associated with my pre-produciton VIN but idk if that is always the case - make sure whomever you are speaking to has access to dealers inventory/pipeline IT systems, dealer dailys, etc..

I wanted a manual transmission more than a 6’ bed. I have a 8’ bed one ton Dodge for hauling things.

 

Still waiting on a order I placed on December 18th, estimated arrival is the week of May 10th.

 

5 months and 11 days. This is a 2021 TRD Sport Access Cab with the 6 speed Manual

I placed my order on October 26th, 2020. I finally took her home! It feels great driving her, and feels surreal finally having her in the driveway.

 

Placed a deposit on 3/23 and was quoted 8-12 weeks for an 2021 O/R 6MT in Army Green. Will update.

 

You will not regret it. Just stay patient, good things come to those who wait!

 

I took one of the incoming vehicles they already had on order which still was a 2-month wait for me. Ordering would have taken at least 4-months+ but given the challenges of COVID at the plants, etc. there was no guarantee it would have been delivered anywhere close to that timeline. Luckily the package I wanted was on one of the models they ordered and it was one of colors I was ok with, it just included about $1000 in options I didn't want (bed mat, bed lighting, nerf bars, mudflaps) but they worked with me on the price. Hang in there, I know it sucks out there right now, and my dealer can't keep any Tacomas, 4Runners, or RAV4s in stock, it's nuts.

 

I ordered my DCSB TRD OR on November 23. Took Delivery on March 31.

I was about to give up and buy something else, but then got the news it was about to be built. I had it just one week later.

 

For me it was a lack of availability of a MT on a DCLB. No manual transmission, no sale.

 

Understand this! I really miss rowing gears but I need the space of a 6'.

well after my whole disaster I posted previously, the dealers new allocation was denied so i guess it’s a waiting game. saw the truck in person they ordered incorrectly, mad ive been waiting 4+ months at this point. have a pile of parts ready to go on that will continue to grow in the mean time I guess

However, the truck was built as toyota originally planned all along... they do not buid trucks 'wrong'... that was the story the dealer used.
It is likely that your dealer was hoping you'd buy their version of 'your' truck (as most people do) as they could not get their hands on exactly what you wanted...

yeah i didn’t mean that as Toyota themselves did. my sales person failed to relay the message to the manager that puts in the request. they assumed I was getting an automatic while the build sheet I sent them clearly stated 6MT.

 

Dealer called today. Got my vin number. Said their system is showing a build date of 6/7 when originally it showed complete by 5/31? Hoping thats just a place holder and it gets built sooner. Coming from Mexico though so t hats gonna suck.
