Ok so I have a bumper with led lights in it and a light bar and I was wondering if I could just run a wire from the light to a switch then from the battery to a switch

You *can* do that, however you should also have an inline fuse immediately after the battery. Whatever you're wiring will also have a negative lead, you may be able to wire it to the chassis, but you may want to run it back to the battery.

Depending on the power draw, you may want to wire the lights on a relay, so the switch isn't dealing with 10+ amps of current through it.

Most switches aren’t rated for the current draw of a light bar. Go on Amazon and buy a generic light bar wiring harness w/ relay and use it.
