Here's my 2 pennies, most batteries are sealed now. Not like years ago when I would take a battery off the shelf and fill it with electrolyte as they were dry for self life , we than put on a charger for 20 minutes before putting it a customers car. Fast forward 46 yrs most batteries are like rechargeable flashlight batteries and can fail for almost any reason or simply age and conditions. I personally have had good luck with the high end Walmart batteries. They have a higher turn over so they aren't ageing out on the shelf unless they are not being rotated. The fuzzy build up at the post may indicate a moisture problem pin hole in the case, water on top ect and a static charge around the posts.

This is not true. my 2020 is proof of that. like I've stated before, I've had my AGM for 17 months. After the truck is off for 20 minutes, the voltage at the battery is 12.9~13.1 volts(depending on the outside temp).

This is a fully charged battery voltage. My Fluke 27 tells no lies, unlike many on this forum.

Lights, stickers, audio, and a grille…
I have a 16 with possibly the battery it came with from the factory, might have been replaced by the previous owner, anyway, I’m not looking to upgrade/modify the charging system, so is there an AGM out there with charging recommendations that match a stock charging system? Or should I just look into high quality lead acid batteries? The previous owner installed an upgraded sound system, with a big amp and all, no subwoofer, unless he took it with him... I am planning on upgrading my fogs to DD SS3’s and adding a couple DD Stage Series 12” led light bars behind the grille as aux high beams. Any battery recommendations? Thanks for any help!

Your lights and sub are all going to be power when the truck is running so battery size isn't going to be an issue. I ended up going with the Full Throttle FT750-35 battery, just waiting for it to be delivered so I can install and since i will be getting a Tune on the truck, he will just adjust the alternator output for me according to the battery specifications.

Obviously when i say it isn't going to be an issue, I mean that as long as its within factory specifications than you will be good.

The Walmart(johnson controls) AGM has worked well for me. Been in for 20 months, and reads fully charge 15 minutes after engines off. 12.9 volts.

Just did the group 31A....took a month for them to actually deliver it, I too went with the CBI mount, very nice, and it has about 13.5 more volts than my stock battery did........
