If you weld a nut on the inside of the moving part, you can thread the end of pin and tighten it to keep whatever that thing is from rattling.

Unrelatedly, I ended up selling the leaf blower yesterday to a guy that used periods at the end of his texts.

It is a drop down tire carrier hitch receiver. I know I have to buy a stabilizer. @Dex__43 used 2 of em for hitch to carrier and side swaying rattle prevention.

 

It works just like a threaded hitch pin for a trailer hitch. I made one for my brother to carry his kayak and climbing stuff. If you index a hole in the end of the hitch pin with a slot on the far side of the stationary part of the rack (away from the pin head), you can keep it from rotating by using a retaining clip. Weld on a hand turnable handle for the "head" side and you have a tool-less anti-rattle hitch pin.

You could even make an eccentric latch/ handle to further tighten it.

Lol I can picture what he's talking about but the way he describes it isn't the way I'm thinking about it. I think in the end all three of us probably thinking the exact same thing we just worded completely differently.

Grind the pin flats to make the latch and index the pin hole AFTER you assemble everything so that the latch points down when the pin hole is flat with the ground.

That is slightly better, I was thinking of the nut being on the left side which would mean more thread. Good deal.
