I feel like Bestop's look more "Box'y" and less sleek with the lines of the truck like the Softopper does. Bestop's are kind of eye sores to me and the side windows just allow for people to peek in and see what ya got. I know these things have no security to them anyway and people could still look in the back window of the Softopper, but thats just my opinion on them. I was never in between the two just wanted to point out the fact i dont know how people would choose a bestop over a softopper.

Will the cops really stop you for that? When i had my RTT/Bedrack setup my tent covered and blocked my 3rd Brake light on the Cab all the time year round. Yet i never had any troubles ever.

The instruction included some suggested starting points (½" front front edge of bed, etc). I started there, then did a test fold, scooted it all back about another ½" or so. It is technically ⅛" off left to right; but seems to be working fine.

I admit the front window I'm still not sure I have it secured "right" but it seems fine. I did take it out on the highway and no fluttering or anything to cause me alarm.

I didn't add mine for legality; I added it cause other drivers are stupid and I don't want one rear-ending me. I ride motorcycles too so I'm all about the visibility.

IDK, but could probably be an issue if you're ever rear ended?

In my back and forth communications they suggested there wouldn't be, but also suggested keeping an eye on the website... They have returns listed also BTW at discounted prices, no sure thing, but might have something that fits your needs at a reduced price. I personally opted for new... Don't regret the decision

I’m installing mine and it seems like it is putting a lot of downward pressure on these brackets when I cinch it down enough to button the buttons in the sides. Is that normal to be like this? Should I move the pins to the bottom hole of the bracket?234A60D2-DD85-4CFD-81D5-233760D471F1.jpg

Mine looks similar to this; so I'm also curious if I should adjust it. Mine is tweaked enough that the rear bracket is also slightly angled down.

    Just some stuff...
I did! Much easier to snap the sides. Still taught enough. No flapping while driving on the fwy.

I don’t believe they’re doing that this spring bc of the pandemic or at least that’s the word earlier on this thread

I just emailed them before i found this thread as Bestop is doing a 10% off rebate and this was their reply

"Thank you for your interest in our Softoppers!

Unfortunately, we don’t have any promotions, shipping discounts, or sales currently and do not have any plans for any future sales at this time, unless you are military or a first responder/police/firefighter, etc. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. However, please feel free to keep an eye on our demo/sale shelf for discounted, gently used Softoppers. Here is the link:

Please let me know if you have any other questions."
