What are “quick struts”? Assume you are asking what coilovers are available for immediate installation? Most all premium stock is in short supply and backordered.

Quick struts are normally a strut and spring already assembled with new upper strut mounts. All you need to do is unbolt the old and bolt in the new. Like this.Screenshot_20210409-163140_Google.jpg

Quick Struts have the shock absorber and spring so you can install with out compressing the spring and having the clamp slip off and injuring yourself.

You answered while I was typing my answer. Fast work. Any experience with Monroe ? Scotty Kilmer doesn't like them if that means anything.

I'd see if you can find any low mileage 3rd gen suspension take offs for sale. Likely the best bang for your buck. I got mine for $150 and it included full front coilovers plus rear shocks and leaf springs all with <15k miles.

Luck of the draw i guess. I thought you beat me. Also Scotty doesn't seem to like anything that isn't a mid 90s toyota. So that doesn't surpised me.

I personally have zero experience with them after being a year old (worked at pepboys for a year). We sold alot of them. I dont remember ever having to warranty one out that didn't have obvious problems from the start. But that was a small window of time

The Monroe quick struts at O’Reilly Auto Parts run $168.99. Have had no issues with Monroe over the last ten years of selling them. Also, O’Reilly house brand struts are made by Monroe for $129.99 a piece. We sell a lot of the house brand struts but if it were mine I would definitely go with the Monroe.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
Any of those sources could have parts local to you. I've done FB and CL and TW for local pickup sales.

If you were down here, I still have full oem suspension from my 2015 that I removed at 10k miles. Guess I should list that.

Craigslist or OfferUp, I forget which. Around here they're plentiful and usually pretty cheap - available here on the forum and all the regular local classifieds. Seems people are starting to ask more for them now since there's a little bit of demand but I've seen people giving them away for free even. Obviously, your region may be different. IMO it's a no brainer as I don't think you can find another shock for that price that will be as good as stock. Plus, you get about 3/4" extra lift in the front when installed on a 2nd gen. And if you can get the leaf pack that could be an advantage if you never had the TSB pack installed and/or if your current leaf pack is sagging at all.

There are no O'Reillys any where near me but this guy pushes them in every conversation and there are non near his shop either - I know he is getting paid but find it funny kind of.

    Yeah.
Personally, I've used Gabriel and Monroe in the past, and they are . . . . functional. They just don't perform very well. Not sure about longevity, never owned them long enough. RockAuto sells KYB quick struts, and they perform MUCH better than Gabriel (I don't have a direct comparison with Monroe, but Gabriel and Monroe are at about the same level). Kind of depends on whether you want to go as cheap as possible to get things back on the road, or you want decent performance. I couldn't stand the Gabriels I put on my '92, swapped almost immediately to some KYB's, night and day difference.

Don't know if this should be a separate thread but we changed strut on a 2007 Tacoma 2.7 and the third nut that you can't see was a major PITA - any tricks to getting it - all three were rusted on - the front two came off with a persuader but the back one had to be cut with a Dremel. These are the three on top mount. Thanks.

    Yeah.
It's your thread, do what you want! LOL. Just don't compare me to Scotty Kilmer anymore, please!

Might be a trick somewhere out here, but PB Blaster might help. A ratcheting box end with a cheater bar might help.
