Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
I was just in AR at end of Feb as that snow was melting and everyone else was busy fixing broken pipes. Best fishing I ever had in AR so far. Was actually able to wade daily for a change too instead of water being routinely too high like my past visits. That was on the White and some tributaries.
I saw the Buffalo River for the first time out there. Beautiful water but I didn't get to wade or explore much of it. Gotta go back to it some time.

Any of you guys ever dress trebles for lures to use on a spinning reel?
I noted on a trip a couple years ago that trout were loving a spinner that had fur & feather dress on it. Wore out the hook in a day.
Haven't found another like it or been back to that water so not sure if it was really the lure or just a good day.

Arkansas has really been growing on me. They don’t call it The Natural State for nothing, and the fishing opportunities are pretty diverse. Of course the White and Norfork are amazing tailwater trout fisheries, but the Spring is pretty good, too. Fished that for the first time this past fall and had a stellar day. Haven’t fished the Little Red yet. But what I’ve really gotten into lately is smallmouth fishing on the beautiful Ozark streams. Haven’t fished or floated the Buffalo yet, but looking forward to doing so. That said, there is plenty of water available, and a lot that is less crowded than the Buffalo.

Some chubby- and stonefly chasers from yesterday. Water is still extremely high and fast from the crazy rains weve had lately.

Not sure if this is ok but if not let me know and I’ll delete.

My brother and I are setting up trips to Montana (Missouri River this year but adding the Bighorn next year) and we can do everything (airfare, shuttles, lodge, guides).

All you essentially have to do is get yourself to your local airport.

If you’re interested send me a PM.

How in th hell did I miss this!? I am the fly fishiest of fly fishers! :D These were taken during a multi state trip I took last year through MT, UT, WY, SD. Meanwhile I’m stuck living in southern NM. Not the place to be if you’re into FF. Caved to the wife as a retirement location because of the weather. I fear I’ve chosen most poorly...

I would have had to tell the wife “we’ve had a good run. I’ll come visit”.

Absolutely. Small remote Cutty stream in MT. A friend of mine who is a local put me on to it. It’s amazing.

I think she’s starting to get the message. She wants to try fishing Tenkara this year.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Nothing on nymphs. Stuck a dry on because I noticed some top water hits. 3rd cast...

Hit the “local” tailwater, and had a good day. Was my buddy’s turn to drive so we took his Tacoma (an SR5 long-bed access cab in voodoo blue). That meant I brought the beer and bought the breakfast burritos. Yeah, we are creatures of habit.

Took my son (first time stream/trout and fly fishing ever) and his buddy (trout/fly fished for 14 months) up to camp in Forest County Pa. for some fishing. Cole got there Friday, so we bought our licenses and went to a local special regs. stream (artificials only catch & release). Went to spots where I have always seen/caught trout......not a single fish located. Talked to the only other 2 guys on the same stretch. They said the fish were hard to locate, but they hit when you found them. Went to a stretch of the same stream where you could keep them. I had one follow my streamer, so I put Cole on it, but no luck.

His buddy Adam, came up Saturday AM and we went back to the special regs area. Saw one come up and break the surface (likely after a nymph) and Cole eventually missed him using a streamer. Didn't set the hook quick enough - hadn't fished at all in about 10 years. Adam finally caught his first trout ever and using a fly rod just downstream from Cole. He got a second from the same spot and not being greedy allowed Cole to try for one there as there were several others in view. No such luck for Cole. His casting technique ended up much better when we finally quit after about 6 hours and 2 more streams (he had several follows and looks at the last hole, but no takers).

They both enjoyed themselves and we talked about doing it again next month. I hadn't fly fished since at least 2018, so I was rusty and soon quit fishing to concentrate on coaching the young 'ens.

My college roommate is being lent a 17’ drift boat for a few years and we’re using it a ton right now on the lakes until this summer when we have more time to get on the rivers. We go out multiple times a week early in the mornings before class. He is a fishing guide in the summers so I’m learning as much as I can from him. He’s caught so many fish recently but this was a absolute tank of a rainbow, it looked like a football with how wide it was. Wasn’t super long but definitely a hefty fish nonetheless.58DA51A2-4AAD-4E04-A109-4F72B937C295.jpg
then after about 3 trips of going out and not catching anything I finally caught some rainbows. They were tiny but I didn’t care as I just wanted to catch something.2495580F-5AAD-4683-A2DB-485339053E21.jpg And of course have to get a photo of the truck with the boat even though the cover is on it:D
