Not even, I wash my truck once a year and my coils never looked like this, also live in Calgary.

Thus dealership does it in house and does not source it out.....their known as “TacomaTown” and was why I chose this dealership. Being in Calgary we have a relatively dry climate...even in our harsh winters they use pea mix gravel on the roads and not straight salt. They do occasionally use a salt mix in the early parts of winter but nothing like coastal cities. Here’s a pic of my leaf springs as well. 02A7CCE2-E1BA-4707-B504-7C8E4FC6EBDF.jpg

Truck is mint, as I said...pavement princess. And I don’t by the Canada excuse....completely landlocked at a high elevation with very little humidity. This is far from my first vehicle and I’ve never seen rust like this on OEM suspension components in any vehicle.

Lol....yes, that’s where I bought it. It’s my first Tacoma (dream truck) and I went there because I thought lifts etc were their “specialty”. I don’t service or buy parts there.

You can find any manufacture with rust after 6 years. I had the Toytec BOSS kit on my Tundra for 5-6 years. Zero rust. I power washed them weekly when I cleaned my truck. And I live in a state that gets quite a bit of snow.

Hmm...honestly, compared to the average vehicle owner I take immaculate care of my truck. Also power washing weekly. Just found it unusual to have gotten this much rust on the suspension components. All replaced anyways and I will take a wire brush and brake cleaner to the leaf springs to clean up then try that fluid film stuff out

If I understand correctly, it's not an additional 12 years frame warranty, but 12 years from the date the vehicle was placed in service.

When I get the CRC, it will only add 6 years frame warranty, since I've had my Tacoma 6 years already.

The way it was explained to me was that it added another 12? I certainly may have misunderstood

Nope. 12 years from their first record of being placed in service. I have my letter in my file. Which they sent me even though I don't live in a qualifying geographic area.

And yes, I'd bet a good lunch (in cdn$) that they did not look inside your frames enclosed areas.

Why would they care? They were paid by Toyota a flat rate fee to look and spray. Faster they are done, faster they move to the next job.

If it rots and fails inspection in the future allowable time frame, they get a boatload of hours to frame swap, plus upselling you on now other rotted parts they find along the way.

If you don't want to check it out and take your own preventative action, that's certainly fine. Just understand you are in a forum where there are dozens of threads on failed frames. And dozens more on healthy frames due to owner 'self preservation', thus the stream of suggestions for you taking charge.

You're already showing signs of future trouble. Big ones.

    Best of luck!

Now you’re scaring me...lol! I don’t have much faith in dealerships either and you make a valid point. Don’t you think Toyota would go after the dealership if in 3-4 years the frame rots after it was apparently “treated”?

    Nope.

They play the long odds. Hoping what they slapped on will get you past the 12 yr limit.

And many experiences of members here show that if you fail at 12 yrs + 1 day, its all on you.

OP consider yourself lucky.. 3 yrs. 37000 miles. they dont make things to last, if they did, no one would ever need to replace anything..

Do they salt the road in your area during the winter months?

Stumbled upon this old thread while researching why my new Toytec coils completely rusted out after half a Wisconsin winter. Wish I would've seen this before purchasing them. They've now been on my 2012 Tacoma for a grand total of 3 months and have a significant amount of rust & corrosion. Way beyond anything I've ever seen or heard of before. Toytec finally responded back to my inquiries and claims to be sending me a new pair. Was thinking of trying fluid film or something along those lines on the replacement pair prior to installation, idk. Thanks for the info/tips.
