Hello! I'm Ed, 41 years old, and live in Atlanta, GA. I'm coming from two decades of Japanese and European sport sedans to my first truck since I was 16 years old. Well, that was actually my Dad's truck - a brand new '95 Dodge Ram reg cab Sport 318ci V8 - but as a new driver who weighed maybe 120lbs dripping wet it was "my" truck too and a blast to drive with my buddies on the weekend. My dad worked for the late great Chrysler Corporation so growing up we had plenty of their cars and trucks. I've been a "car guy" since the age of 12 when we moved to Alabama from Missouri and I bought my first car magazine; from then on I made it my mission to read every mag available and memorize all of the stats of every car I could. Over the last 20+ years I've joined whatever community was out there for the vehicle I had.

Fast forward to present day and we just adopted our second dog so at that point I knew I needed to buy a truck or SUV of some type. We love taking them to swim in the river (the Chattahoochee) and exploring with us. Initially I was pretty dead set on buying a new Ram 1500 Limited but once I built one online that was close to $70K I knew I should take a step back. I then explored the Tundra but wasn't in love with it. Finally, I (re)discovered that the Tacoma was available with a manual transmission so that 80% decided it for me! I called around to a half a dozen dealerships and couldn't find one that was either available or not loaded with $5K+ of bullcrap dealer accessories and fluff. Finally, I contacted the dealership back in Alabama where we bought a few cars years ago and was able to get a hold of one incoming within about 50 days that was the color and spec I wanted without any of the add ons that I had no interest in. I chose a TR OR Doube Cab 4X4 manual transmission with the Tech Pkg, Premium Pkg, and LED headlights. So now I'm just waiting rather impatiently!

Happy to be here and look forward to soaking up the wealth of knowledge. I plan to start with some pretty simple mods - some type of side steps or running boards, window tint and paint protection film, tonneau cover of some type, and eventually I would like either the TRD matte black wheels or another brand with a similar look.

Here is my build sheet and a couple pictures of our "kids"!

Nice truck and love the dogs. Good choice on color as well. I like the red that Toyota uses.

$329 was for the floor mats, the gas was "free".

Thanks, all! I'm already sketching out some ideas for my first mods:

*Xpel ceramic window tint on the front side and windshield
*Xpel Paint Protection Film for the front bumper
    *TRD Pro grille.
*Side steps or running boards/rails of some sort.
    *Tonneau cover of some sort.
*Black lettering for the "Tacoma" on the tailgate.
*TRD matte black 16" wheels. I'm having trouble finding these; I want to keep the original wheel size since I would like to hang out to the original tires for a year at least until I really get comfortable with what I want do with a tire upgrade.

One thing you can look into is painting/applying decals on the stock wheels. They do look real nice as matte black with the stock tires. Way cheaper than new wheels, and not much of a commitment should you swap things out later on. There's tons of pics of TW people who did just that if you want to get an idea of how it looks.

ATL represent! I spent most of my life in Atlanta, however I moved to Seattle in 2013, there's a lot of great places both north and south to explore. I got my Taco in November and have been in love with it, you made a sound choice! The folks on here are super nice and incredibly knowledgeable, any time I have ever wanted to know anything, someone has already figured it out and posted it here. Good luck!
