Nah, my OR felt great. Just needed some height and bounce protection.

I could be wrong, but doesn't Pro has stiffer suspension compared to OR at low speeds? I think I read somewhere here that Pro suspension was designed for tacking rough terrain at high speed, for example, it would feel much much softer if you were doing 45 mph on a rough gravel road, on the other hand, OR will rattle like crazy. It basically is designed to absorb big impacts, at low speeds the impact would not be large enough to compress the suspension.

I get that a truck will never ride like a car. I came from an STi so I am all too familiar with stiff suspension. But, this is a whole different animal. it feels like the rear end vibrates anytime I hit a bump while the front bounces. I am starting to come to the realization I will never love this truck like I have previous vehicles, which I hate since it's a great looking truck. Extremely underpowered (yes I have OVTune), transmission is inconsistent, and the ride is uncomfortable for a daily driver.

Any chance you’ve had the alignment checked? Mileages don’t matter, brand new trucks need alignments sometimes. Possibly a long shot, but toe-out causes small bumps/impacts to feel harsh, especially on turns and curves, and to me, can make the ride/driving experience unpleasant. Long drives like that have me feeling wore out at the end. Has it always been this way or something new, or just more noticeable?

In my opinion the best ride is a Ford F150, XLT 4WD. It's a cloud... my Taco rides well enough (20 OR) considering it has stiffer suspension and is a light truck.

I came from a 2020 Ridgeline which drove and rode like a Honda Accord it was amazing the Tacoma is rougher but I am not feeling what you are describing with my 2021 Trd Pro. The tranny sucks ass but I am gonna use paparee’s tune. I drove 500 miles in one day with my Trd Pro and it was pretty smooth my buddy could not believe it either. I would sell your truck and get what you like. I compared the top five last month and was going to trade mine in but after reading their forums decided the Tacoma is still the king. My budget was 75k and could not find anything better for the size, aftermarket support and reliability. The Raptor was my top choice but the size of it is not practical for what I am gonna do. Raptor forums are full of complaints and bad dealer support. I almost pulled the trigger on the Jeep Gladiator lifted and ready for 67k but when I drove it, it would drift all over the place the ride was a-lot smoother, tranny was perfect. I went to their forums and they have a whole can of worms going on over there. My sales guy told me his next truck would be a Taco and that told me to get out of there. Bison was awesome drove so smooth but for 70k you get no back up sensors, cameras, keyless start and their forums were full of problems with the shocks. Pick your poison no truck is perfect. If you do not offroad I think the Ridgeline would impress you with the quality of the ride, I only sold mine because it looked so bland.

I was considering selling and getting into a Raptor. But, it seems overpriced for what you get. The interior looks incredibly cheap for a 70k+ truck. 2021 appears to have improved a bit, but again it lacks refinement you would expect at the 70k+ price point. I like having the capabilities of a truck, but the ride has left a lot to be desired.

That is your problem exactly. E rated tires are overkill for such an extremely light truck. If you want to be able to bash over pointy rocks without thinking, or you routinely go into remote areas where recovery is difficult, then this is part of the compromise you have to make.

I've off roaded the piss out of SL rated tires. I'm willing to avoid pointy rocks at speed so the truck is fun to drive the rest of the time.

Also, if you run an E rated tire at 30psi, you have compromised the.load rating of that tire so that it's now lower than the load rating of an SL tire at the same pressure.

If you know someone with an OR go drive that and see if you like the ride better. My OR has the smoothest suspension of any truck I have owned. It is so nice, I am almost afraid to upgrade to what I have on order.

But I agree with others that load rating E tires are stiffer than you need. That change alone may solve the problem.

True story! I put E rated tires on my TRD OR premium 4 Runner against everyones protest and it was the biggest mistake I ever made. I luckily had 7 days to return the tires to BFG as a promotional deal. I will not need E tires in my future for the Taco since I do not tow and I do not rock crawl in dangerous terrain.

Not to mention the extra weight the load E brings with it.

As for protection, I prefer tires that have more thread going down the sidewall as that extra rubber serves better purpose for me off road. The high ply sidewall is strong, but for me not worth the weight and harshness it brings

For those of you with an off-road, I did get the opportunity to test drive an off-road stock versus an off-road with that new lift kit direct from Toyota. The latter drives very very nicely in comparison.

Edit: I do believe the latter truck also had oem size K02s.

edit 2: I was smart enough apparently to take a picture at the time. Those look oem size right?

They look to be "sorta" OEM. Off Road's and Pros and SR5s come with 16" wheels. Those are 17" wheels from a 4Runner. The Sport comes with 17", the Limited with 18" wheels.
