What do detailers use to clean wheels?

Sorry if this is a mega topic... but specifically what type of instrument do guys that make their living doing this use to get wheels clean. Not just the product, but the brush thingies. I have stock wheels, but my fingers don't get in all the nooks and creases. What is best to make them clean with minimal effort?

Look up Wheel Woolies. I have a set and they work pretty well.

I use Wheel Woolies as mentioned. My set has 3 different sizes and is great for getting inside the wheel as well.

 

Speed Master is my current favorite.

When these wear out I intend to go with the Wheel Woolies.

 

I saw those and worried about them leaving small scratches in the wheels.
I’m happy with the Woolies. Sud up really good and clean just as good

 

I use the EZ Detail brushes. They look almost identical to the Speedmaster brushes, but the bristles seem to be a bit more soft--I've had both, and I prefer EZ Detail over Speedmaster. I used to use wheel woolies, but they aren't as versatile with getting into the tighter spots on the wheel. Product wise, I pair it up with P&S Brake Buster. It really makes for quick wheel cleaning, even if you're just spraying the product onto the wheels, letting it sit, and then rinsing it off (I tend to do this more over the winter).

I use Wheel Woolies and Poor Boy's Spray and Rinse. I also have a set of Speed Master brushes and they work quite nicely too. I will tell you that after many failed attempts at finding a decent wheel cleaning solution, I stumbled onto the Poor Boy's product and would never use anything else now. Great stuff when used as directed.

 

I use the blue EZ-detail brushes (large and small), Tuf shine tire brush, and an Adam's Trim & Lug Nut Brush(or a round boars hair brush if you want to get fancy). I'm not a professional anymore, but I still like to have clean stuff and spend as little time as possible doing it so I tend to optimize for convenience and speed. Wheel woolies functionally do work very well, but I hate having to rinse and dry them. You end up using brushes for the tight spots anyway. The brushes take about 3 seconds to rinse and put up. I use the Adams or P&S wheel cleaner usually.

 

thank you this is an awesome thread, I can now do it myself, I was paying for car wash/detailing service at a car wash in my neighborhood and it has been getting very expensive. I will use the advice above to now do the wheels myself and maybe once in a while a quick wax/detail job without the tires, maybe it will cost a bit less. thanks.

Any long handle fender brush and tire brush will do for the fenders/tires, but the speedmaster is soft enough that it won't scratch rims. I use a microfiber towel for the face of the rims and the speedmaster and boars hair brushes for the rest.

Bottle brushes work very well. I normally use disb soap since it canbreak downtje brake dust and roadgrime. Dry with a spray wax, like mags xpress wax.
