Well while pulling out of a parking lot in my 2018 TRD sport heard and felt a strong thud, felt like the transmission. Check engine light came on and the truck just did not feel right. Only had 1 minute drive home but everytime truck would shift up, same loud and strong thud could be felt and the engine revving in all sorts of weird ways. Truck doesn't feel like it wants to go over 25mph. I can't contact service until the morning so figured I'd see what you guys thought

Sounds like it’s very low on transmission fluid

This trucks transmission has never been amazing. I had a rental 2017 SR5 for abit and the transmission was way smoother and less laggy. Mine has always shifted sooo oddly

Scan for codes; won't know anything until then.

Probably not your issue, but a "slight" thud could be the driveshaft due to a lack of grease. My F-150 had this same issue, but at least Toyota gave us zerks (it sucked removing the driveshaft twice a year).

Just an update in case it'll help anyone else but it ended up having a bad knock sensor.. they had the truck for 5 days had to replace a bunch of gaskets they removed to get to knock sensor. Truck seems normal again but I'm concerned this truck isn't going to end up being a reliable vehicle I can drive to over 200k. Time will tell, at 70k now.

Toyota eliminated the Zerks from the driveshafts too, 2016 was the last year for them on the rear and l think 2019 was the last for the front.

Just looking at the numbers, you've put on 70K miles already...I mean you're almost halfway to the mark. Things can happen...if this was an issue at 7K miles I'd be a bit more concerned about longevity. Just MHO...

Thanks for updating this thread with a solution. I’m glad it wasn’t the transmission.

Lol now I just got on my base (just got put on orders) and I'm 2hrs away from home and my truck is pissing fuel out of the bottom of the engine... Wow I can't win. They must've messed up a seal or something.

There is nothing worse than a dealer fixing a small problem and creating a bigger one for you. That sucks.
