Honestly, it came down to a combination of timing, bad luck, and good luck.

I was out wheeling a couple weeks ago, and gouged the sidewall on one of my current tires. Thats the bad luck.. Its not too bad, however I have a trip coming up very soon with about 3k in highway miles; pulling a 6x12 uhaul trailer for about 1k of that. I just wasn’t comfortable with the potential for blowout on the highway.

Ive been wanting to jump to 33s since the lift went on. Someone in the western mass thread happened to be selling a set of 33 km3s with a brand new km2 for a spare; all mounted on bronze wheels (rock rashed, but I wheel so who cares). Im somewhat strapped for cash given numerous home improvements (windows, chimney and deck) are in the works, but tires and wheels including a full size spare for the price I paid was a deal.

They are 255/85 16s. There are both benefits and disadvantages associated with the skinnys. This will sum it up so much better than I can.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-skinny-on-skinny-tires.529656/

I plan on running my old wheels and tires around town and in winter. They have some good tread left and the mt’s suck in snow from what I understand.

Yeah I saw those posted and no pun intended they got my wheels spinning about the pro's and cons so I've been digging around about them as well. They look great hope they fit the bill for the trip, you'll have to let us know how they work out!

The pictures don't show how bad it is but it's not from a bat.
And all the scratch marks that you can't really see are exactly perpendicular to the truck.

I wish I could have all it was like I thought it was going to be was deny deny deny.
They are supposedly going to check their cameras and call me.
He says first you off-roaded it, then I explained how that is impossible and then he says we'll a tree branch fell on it.
No trees in my front lawn and wife parks right next to the truck.
So I guess the tree branch which should have been huge must have grow legs and just walked away.
So now alas Toyota Corporate is involved, I'm waiting for a call back from them by the end of the day.

Yep, I literally just told corporate how do I know that anything they did was right.
I mean they told me I had a leak out my bearing seal they put a new 1 on which means more leaked out...
Did they bother to check the level of the rear diff?
    Nope.
Did they let me know they trashed my wheel spacers?
    Nope.
Did they fix my break pedal going to the floor?
    Nope.
So if that's all no, then how do I know they actually checked my frame, changed the transmission fluid correctly, or change my
    Transfer case oil correctly?
Is my new wheel bearing going to fall off now?
Did the rear brakes get changed?
Did the rotors actually get turned?
Seriously how can I trust anything they just did to my truck was done right?

So Toyota Corporate delt with the dealership and the dealership called me up and said their video doesn't go back that far...
    Isn't that convenient.
They also said that they might have talked to the guy that worked on my truck...
    MIGHT HAVE?...
They also said they aren't going to do anything.
So I said well I have all this proof I didn't do it but you have no proof that you didn't do it.
Bla bla, excuse, excuse, ramble ramble...
Now I'm back on toyota corporate and they are going to have some sort of specialist call me tomorrow.
The guy I talked to was even like wow that's a very odd place to have damage done.
My wife looked at it again (which knows nothing about nothing when it comes to vehicles) and said that's not from a hit that's from pressure, something being pushed against it.
    So.....
I suggest from now on if you're getting work done, either watch in person or make sure that cameras are recording.
