I'm putting in VLEDs this week as bed lights (below). I've already got some cheap leds in there that work (.06A and 74 lumens) tapped off the extra 4 pin trailer harness and a switch, but it's not very bright in the bed.

The VLEDs are .3A and 400 lumens each, they should work. I looked at their smaller pods in max white and they're 200 lumens each, but didn't like how they mounted from the back to make them flush mount. I'll report back with pics.

That looks awfully similar, just a sixer on the intercept?

 

8 port. The reverse is a 2 port, but different part number. Breaking the ground on this one as the lights have 2 positives going through the 8 port, but only one common ground. Also will mount lower on the frame, so the relay>taillight wire is a bit longer.

 

Ok, since @daveeasa was all like “pfft... I can do DIRs in my sleep!” Here is a modified one (and the future of the reverse taps someday?). This one was made special for @memario1214 for his Tundra. It has the DIR, yes! It has a reverse tap, yes! But if you look real close, you see an extra connector there with a lone blue wire sticking out. That is a brake tap! Just when you thought it couldn’t be done, I found more crap to integrate into a harness! Anyway, the brake tap, the reverse tap, and a ground wire go to the three port connector with the red tip. For now, it will just be reverse and ground continuing on from that point, brake gets a blank plug. But... when the Diode Dynamics folks decide to ship the SSC1 (I think that’s the model? The little 2x2 light they have coming), we can change that last 10” part to activate the red backlight that memario1214 now knows he needs for an additional brake light.

I thought the DD light was public-ish knowledge now. Or are you talking about how you left us lowly Tacoma guys for the luxury of a V8?

Out of curiosity, given the audience, now that I'm caught up on 3rd gen Tacoma DIR, what effort do yall think would be the next best use of my time to try to produce in medium sized batches? I'm guessing I'll probably focus on Tundra DIR's in the near future but unsure what the demand will be there.

1. H11 to H9 halogen headlight adapters
2. Halogen to OEM LED headlight conversion with aux tap for grille lights/v5 switchback feeds
3. Something else I'm not thinking of which would be cool/fun to have as a plug and play option which isn't stepping on someone else's toes?

Mostly I'm looking for something useful to do with my 1-3h at night after all the other creatures have gone to sleep. Once we get a bit more into summer I may brave the arctic so cal evening conditions and attempt real truck mods, but I'm restricted on decibels lest I suffer the wrath of a woken slumberer so garage crimping is nice safe turf.

 

I’m trying to keep you busy Once I design the trucknutz light, that will one will take off like nothing anyone has ever seen....
