Been trying to get this ZUNE adapter figured out and finally got a chance to tackle it (thanks to those who helped me identify the wires I needed for power!). Since I had the radio, radio bezel, and climate control panel out to paint, this was as good a time as any to install it.

I had several blemishes on the silver radio bezel from the last owner's sloppy attempt to detail the interior. ArmorAll spooge spots wouldn't come out, so after a thorough cleaning, I decided to try and paint the bezel. Worst case scenario, I don't like it or it doesn't work, I'd go buy a new one. Here's the album link for additional pics: http://s695.photobucket.com/albums/vv315/z06pilot164/Tacoma/

Sorry, but no install pics of the Zune adapter (TOYZN4). Camera battery was charging during install.

wow, another zune owner, a rare find, lol. I'd love to hear how you wired that connection, is there a writeup?

Thanks all for the compliments. Yeah, I know what you're saying about being one of only a few Zune users, here! I searched for a couple weeks trying to find anyone who has used this adapter and might be able to help with installing it. (Guess I'm it, now, LOL)

As for the write-up, I was unable to take pics. If you are using the same adapter I used (Soundgate's TOYZN4), the included instructions are pretty easy to follow. The only issue I had was finding which wire was hot in the factory wire harness for the radio. Another forum member hooked me up with a basic wiring diagram.

I'm not about to rip it all back open to take pics, but it really is a simple install. The gray wire is the wire you want to tap. It's probably more work than most would want to do, but I was so much happier I removed the radio bezel before doing this install. There's a real nice opening and gap that's just beneath the dash cover where this adapter can slide in and out of the way. Very hard to get to, however, if you do not take the radio bezel off. Aside from the initial wire hunt, the install was literally under 20 minutes! Nice adapter. It's controlled from the radio and will charge the unit while it plays.

Hey op, I am trying to find some info about this adapter. I dont really care about how it hooks up, I want to know how it works. Is there any text on the screen while you are using it, like track# or whatever? Artist name? Song name?
My truck is a first gen, and it may be different but I still want to know before I buy one.

yeah it looks good. Did you ever think of just painting over the words, then outlining them with a white/silver sharpie? Having that little square would drive me nuts. Great job though....

    The paint looks great!

So im confused. Did you manage to get it integrated into the radio to let the radio control it? Or just hard wire the power cord?

BTW I also have a Zune HD 32g Silver, love it!
