Has anyone added a second OEM Toyota transmission fluid cooler their Taco instead of going with an aftermarket cooler? I had a conversation with a highly competent and highly regarded independent mechanic and he was of the opinion that instead of going with a larger capacity aftermarket cooler it might be effective to add a 2nd Toyota cooler. His reasoning was that many of the aftermarket coolers available are not of sufficient quality and not rugged enough to be trusted over the lifetime of the truck.

Just thought I'd see what you long time Taco owners thought of his point of view.

The stock Toyota cooler is just an ordinary plate and fin unit, similar to what many aftermarket and OE companies manufacture.
Tube and fin coolers and stacked plate coolers can be just as rugged. Take your pick, they’ll all work just fine.

    As with anything, it’s debatable.

Rugged coolers exist for cheap, moderate or higher prices.

Tru-cool by Long Manufacturing. They also make B&M Coolers, which are the same units:

Is it best to add an aftermarket cooler in conjunction with the OE cooler or remove the OE cooler and replace it with the larger aftermarket cooler.
