@Sear87 - The pergola is nice but the blanket, and it's history, is amazing.

We ran just short of lumber. Was wondering how long until someone pointed that out...

    that's awesome - both projects.
since mom is the one who finished it she should write up a brief history of the quilt - who did what and when. then keep that in a safe place and if you ever get to pass the quilt on you can pass the story along with it

    Thanks!

I'm honestly not sure if my mom knows when the quilt top was made, and who knows about the butterfly. That certainly would be a good companion piece for the quilt, though. Thanks for the suggestion

Otherwise, the who and what are embroidered on it, we just need the when.

Cast a few blanks today with Sweetgum Balls in Alumilite.

3 Bottle Stopper blanks and 1 Ring blank. I could use the stoppers as game calls, rings, shaving brushes, gear shift knobs, or ???

And a block mold without the sweetgum balls that could be used for slimline pens, crochet needles, seam rippers, knife scales, or rings.

I might do some bowl blanks at a later date, still have plenty sweetgum balls available.

Yeah, they're no fun to step on, you'll roll an ankle if wearing shoes or they'll stab you if barefoot.

Spent a little time in the shop Friday, played with some cypress I had laying around and this happened. Now I've gotten my wife's for Mother's Day gift taken care of.

Had a stick of red oak dowel under foot in the shop so I decided to turn a honey dipper out of part of it. I didn't like the way the wood was turning so I had to try and clean it up and lost most of the design/shape I was turning into it. Not pleased with the results on this one.
    2021-05-08 Dipper R O 0004.jpg

Ran into Houston this afternoon and while there swung by Clark's Hardwoods and found a stick of cherry that needed some modifications and a new home.

And depending on what you're using it for, it's either a muddler, masher, or pestle
