Leveling my Taco at campsite

Hi, I've been looking for threads for advice about how to level your truck at a campsite. My rig has a rooftop tent which seems to magnify the effect of a non-level situation. I have recovery tracks which are a start but not enough height. Looked at plastic stackers like Utility Blocks but they take up a lot of room.

Anyone have a solution they are happy with? Products to avoid?

I saw a product called Flat-Jack which is an inflatable pad but they are only carried by one company who has no idea when they will be able to get more in stock.

 

I use this on my trailer. Works wonders, though if its a gravelly surface I have to put a rubber mat underneath to keep the trailer from pushing it along.

I've been camping with an RTT for years now, toss some rocks under tires and drive up, easy and you don't have to pack more single use crap along for the ride. Often its nice to be slightly head high too, if you can work it out that way.

As to your real question. Ive seen people use rocks that they find at sites, logs, or even digging a hole for each wheel to lower them.

But the easiest way is those stackable ramp things.

 

Shovel? you can dig the other tires down..

 

Take a look at RV/Camper leveling blocks. They're like giant lego pads that you wheel up onto. We used to use them on our pop-up camper.

Thanks to all for quick response. Looks like a combination of plastic gizmos such as the Camco or Ultra Levelers and digging makes the most sense. Some sites probably won't be diggable (yes, that is a word - ok, I made it up).

 

Seems like a perfectly cromulent word to me.

 

Another vote for wood boards (cheap and handy for other uses like jacking up a lifted truck.)

..and their typically free if you're around any construction work.

 

The word you are looking for is penetrable.

 

2x8s or 10s work great for leveling as mentioned but also work great as an additional base for the factory jack if you ever get flat

 

Yep, I carry a 1' square piece of 3/4" plywood as a base for a jack so it won't squish down into the "penetrable" ground but there are so many far more expensive ways to go about it.

 

If you like, I can design a mechanism that will auto level with the push of a button. It will take three years and cost $426,000 but that bitch will put the bubble in the lines every time side to side and front to back.
Go ahead and issue the PO and I will get right on it.

Either way I got some that are just stick on (going strong for over a year now). I have them on my rack and they work great. Your bed flexes independently of the cab so having some gages in back can help with leveling, because the sensor in the cab can differ.
