    Hi! I have never owned a Tacoma before and I noticed that it’s making a weird ticking noise mainly on the passenger side. Does anyone know what could be causing this noise? Is it normal? When idling it kinda sounds like a small Diesel engine. I don’t know how to upload a video on here so I have added the link to a video I uploaded on YouTube. I recorded this video this morning. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    @blackDOGLila I am new to this forum so I am not sure how to individually reply lol I need to figure that out. Thank you for the info. I’m no expert in cars so i am assuming I have nothing to worry about.

    @JaCado thank you!

    @Flights9
    Without knowing which engine you have, miles on truck, service done and needing to be done, engine cold or at operating temps I'll add the following.
    Twin overhead cams and 4 valves per cylinder are quiter at temp than cold.
    YouTube videos are not ideal for diagnosing noises.
    BUT
    Check your owners manual recommendation for valve adjustment interval and if it's been done.
    Join Toyota Owners .com
    Add your VIN# to check service records.
    VIN# is on vehicle registration.
    If there are no service records online or by receipts provided at purchase assume no service has been done and play catch-up.

    Mine is a fair bit louder and ticks a bit while warming up in the cold. Pretty common on most vehicles I think. Like me you might just be noticing all the little things a bit more it being a brand new vehicle!
