    Let's say on the 6112,

    Collapsed 17.67"
    Extended 22.5
    Travel 4.83

    1)1/2" top plates like headstrong
    2) I'm guessing the 3" RC lift is a 1.5" piece

What exactly are you trying to do stacking spacers and 6112s?

I have 1/4" top plates, not stacking. Just curious about different sizes and how it affects travel lengths.

Top plate spacers will potentially allow your shock to bottom out before your bump stop hits. Which may or may not destroy the shock. It’s not going to directly mess with the shocks travel specs.

It is all going to depend on your shock measurements collapsed/extended and your bump stop setup.

I have duro bumps to be installed. Hopefully that'll help some.

Might also do the Maxtrac spindle lift then remove that top plate.

Does 2.5" lift means possible travel is 4.83-2.5 = 2.33?

You're mixing different numbers. The geometry of the Tacoma front suspension makes changes at the shock roughly doubled at the wheel, so a 1" longer shock assy equals 2" of lift out at the wheel. Lifting 2.5" at the wheel only requires a 1.25" longer shock assy.
In your specific example, the 4.83" of shock travel hasn't changed, but the amounts of up and down travel will be redistributed (more up/compression and less down/extension) by 1.25". Make sense?

OP your answer is yes, yes top plates lessen travel
when you add pre load you lessen travel

edit* perhaps I am all wrong though...:frusty:

A top plate spacer(one in the op’s pic) does not preload the coil.

    Yes
no they don’t, your co and arms will still cycle the same amount. the ratio of up to sown travel changes as you “lift” you sit higher in the stroke that’s all

i thought sitting higher in the stroke was a result of adding preload

now I am all confused :annoyed::frusty:

    Yes
pre load or spacers your travel would not change just the up / down ratio
