How long did you have to wait for your 2021 factory order?

I told my friend, a sales rep, that I was getting ready to trade in and would do it if he very specifically got a TRD OR in Army Green AT DCSB. I said that should help me get the truck in 6-8 months...I got a call 15 minutes later saying he was getting the exact one (plus black out package) in a month.

 

Look on Autotrader or cars.com and set it to nationwide, or unlimited miles away from you. Might be able to get a truck that way. If you find the one your looking for call up the dealer, place a deposit, and fly out there to drive it back. If flying out isn't an option then you can arrange shipping for like 600-800 bucks or so. This is what I would do if your situation happened to me.

 

yeah ive been doing so, having a hard time finding anything within driving distance. dont really want to fly out but if that’s what it comes down to it is what it is. im not settling and have my eyes set on that exact spec tacoma so we’ll see what happens within the next few months

 

I got the VIN today for the truck that I put a deposit on. I put a deposit down 12/31/20, it says it was ordered 2/1/21. They are showing deliver as April 29.

My only concern is that the VIN doesn’t show anything about LED headlights. The rest of the items are just as we discussed, Silver Sky Metallic and 6MT the most important.

Trying to decide now if I want to buy it or not after reading about how great the LED headlights are.

 

For me it's simple: If I am paying alot of cash ($35-40k is alot to me) then I will get exactly what I want. You ordered a truck and wanted it with the LED lights, why should you compromise now? I wouldn't compromise on them, they really are THAT amazing.

That and if you want to put those OEM LED headlights in afterwards, you will pay $1300 for just the OEM LED lights, and then after that have to buy a different wire harness and deal with installing them. The option from the factory s only $485.

 

I experienced several attempts to add LED headlights to several different allocations, none took - stopped trying so I could lock in a truck with everything else I wanted - I do <5% of my driving after dark so I'll manage - and they gotta be better than the glazed/faded HLs on my '09 canyon. I'll add the GE +130 H11 bulbs to soothe my pain - still wanted them bad but got impatient .

 

Placed my order 4/2, dealer contacted me 4/9 saying it was scheduled to be built 05/24, with estimated delivery 2-3 weeks after that.

 

(Hopefully) getting back into the 3rd gen Tacoma game after the last 3.5 years in a 5th gen 4Runner. Traded my '16 DCSBOR in on the Runner because I wasn't too impressed with the almost-not-adjustable driver's seat and constantly-confused automatic transmission after owning it for a year and a half since brand new.

So this morning I met with my trusty Toyota salesman to submit an order to Toyota for a DCSBOR with a 6 speed manual in Super White with the following: LEDs heads & fogs, OE hard tri-fold tonneau, black emblem overlays & Tech package (all weather liners and tailgate lock will be added at the dealer level). The power adjustable seat works much better for me, so that problem should be alleviated as well.

So now we're just waiting on confirmation that the order is accepted and there's allocation available for my specific preferences. Fingers crossed!

 

I had pretty good luck reaching out to the dealer’s internet sales team and asking what they already have coming in on order and picking one to reserve before it hits the lot.

I found a higher volume seller and they had a pretty decent incoming batch of Tacomas to pick from. Have a Cement off-road reserved and scheduled to be built early May, pick up late May/June.

 

I ordered on 12/17 and received a build date of 4/16. I got the VIN today and was able to register the truck on Toyota’s app. I don’t yet have a delivery date. Is the VIN issued before it’s actually built?

 

If I understand correctly, you might have a pre build VIN and it might get a different VIN once it is completed.

 

Yes. Once I got the Toyota app and VIN, I could see it being transported, if drivers unlocked and locked. It was delivered to my dealer with 2 miles. Dealer added 1 mile getting gas and PDI. I really liked it. As it told me if sudden acceleration or anything done or abuse by the porters.

I loved having the ability to monitor my 2021 truck, the minute it left the factory

 

Sounds like you got the real deal. Temp or preproduction vin #s have a letter in the last 4 digits I believe. If it’s 4 numbers than I think you’re good. Now the wait for the truck to be delivered.

Ordered a DCSB Nightshade on 2021/02/02, was told roughly 2 months (after a different local dealer said 5-6 months). At the end of Feb, the date was updated to be April 1-10. At the end of March, the date was updated to be April 15th. Got the call on Monday and picked it up yesterday (2021/02/14).

Fresh update this morning: ordered 2/23. Was given a build date of 4/15 -4/17. Today (4/15) I got a text saying the estimated delivery date is 5/5-5/10.

 

I was also able to get a fresh update this morning. Allocation approved 1/26, built on 3/12, estimated delivery date is now 4/21 to Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Additionally, the Sales Manager told me the truck "departed the vessel" on 4/5. I assumed this meant it was driven off the carrier ship and parked at the port of Newark on this date.

 

Salesman sent me a text this morning, the truck was delivered to the dealership last night! I'm scheduled to pick it up on Monday! The excitement is almost unbearable.
