Looking for opinions (guessing not many users have both) between the and the Expedition Essentials 2TPAM.

The 2TPAM seems to be more intrusive but looks more stable given the external side supports.

I like the lower profile of the 2GDMM but is it strong enough?

I plan to mount a Garmin Nuvi and 2 ~5" smartphones and a mic holder for my amateur radio mic. I'm not too worried about power anything as I already have the GPS dash powered and one of my smartphones uses wireless so I'll probably mount a wireless charging capable mount.

I don't go wheelin' but I do use forest service roads for weekend adventures and get on some pretty beat up roads at times.

    Thoughts?

Is this the first TW post where someone asked for opinions and got zero? Most of the time it’s the other way around. What’s up tech deck peeps?

First off I’m a little bias because I do have the Exp Ped 3TPAM. That being said what was my deciding factor was the fact that the ExPed one has support brackets that bolt in with the radio and do require you to unscrew it when you need to remove the bezel. As opposed to the TG one that only bolts and clamps to the bezel with no further support for weight.

I was looking into this recently for my 2nd gen. There's like no options out for it. They are all very bulky and for the hassle to install them dont seem worth it for it to look so ugly.

I personally have the taco garage dmm and it’s pretty solid. I have my phone, walkie, and iPad (full size) for gps mounted and have never had any issues. I do like the charging port capability of the ExPed Essential but it wasn’t a deal breaker

Perhaps there needs to be another unit added to a list. Prototype nearly completed. Production to start soon.

Looking into this now... do you have any pics of the ipad mounted or your entire setup? I already have the DMM and a phone mount, but i just ordered an new ipad and want to see if it can be mounted without blocking field of view. Between my already needless rearview mirror (Camper shell) that is too low and in the way, I'm not really looking to add something else that will block view out of windshield.

I have installed and used both, on and off road.

I started with the DMM. It definitely held up well with a Samsung Note20, a Samsung 10.1" tablet, and a Baofeng.

3 reasons I switched to EE TPAM:
    1) I liked the idea of having the mounts attached to the frame for more support. Not that the DMM needs more support, but if I could have more support, why not.
    2) I didn't like the height my phone was in. I could've bought a bunch of connectors to bring it down, but I didn't want to add more parts.
    3) Forum member had a price I couldn't pass on.

I say start with the DMM. It might do everything you need it to do. If it doesn't, keep an eye out for someone selling the TPAM used.

Dont forget, we also have the Track Mount version of our mount, uses the same internal supports, and if you ever want to upgrade it picks up the same holes

I'm biased to the 3TPAM and have no complaints. I like that you have a ton of options and space for fun. Here is a link to how I mounted my mic and remote GRMS radio to the 3TPAM. I also really like the way it looks.

No issues with DMM here. Prefer the more low profile look. No issues with strength.

I like to keep the cabin clean and uncluttered. With the right home holder it looks basically OEM
