Hey y’all, I recently put a 2 inch spacer and block lift on my Tacoma and am currently running the stock 265/65/r17s. I’m thinking of just keeping it modest and going for 265/70/r17s. I have heard certain things about upgrading tires sizes like it can cause worse gas mileage and in some cases you have to regear your differentials? Will these statements be true for such a small upgrade? Will my speedometer still be accurate? Also down to see any pictures of your guys tires on your tacos!

    Welcome to TW.

265/70R-17 is a very common upgrade size and bonus is if you ever get sidewall damage, need a replacement during your travels, very commonly stocked size around the country. Your speedometer will probably be more accurate then than it is now. No regearing needed for that change.

Lots of pics of tire, wheel combos on TW, enjoy.

why did you use spacers and not springs

    I doubt people re-gear for 31's
supposedly 2" lift will not clear larger size such as 33

Just throwing this out there if you're buying tires from Discount tire. I put these on my 2007 Tacoma a couple of months back and am happy. I considered Falken and Cooper, but looking at them in person just preferred these.

Goodyear Wrangler UltraTerrain AT | Discount Tire

If I understand right this is a tire only sold by Discount tire, they are just under $170 for my 265/75/16's. I don't understand why, but are closer to $200 for 265/70/17's.

I've been using 265/75/16's on my 2007 Tacoma for years. They are the same overall size as 265/70/17's and don't require a regear. Any loss of power isn't noticeable and the truck still gets the same fuel mileage it did when new. Even when I had much heavier E rated tires in the same size. Those tires are only 1' taller than stock and the same width. It is when you get into 285-305 tire widths and go with mud tires that you see significant power and fuel mileage loss.

My truck isn't lifted, but I may go for a similar lift in the near future. IMO this size still looks good with no lift, and isn't too small even with 2-3" of lift.

The spacer lift you did is just fine. Lots of guys here just like to spend money. What you did was simply lift the truck. As long as you keep the lift 2" or less there are no downsides. The ride and overall performance will be no different than factory, you're just sitting up 2" higher. The more expensive lifts will improve the ride and performance a bit over factory. But if you're happy with the truck in stock form and just want it a bit higher a spacer lift is fine.

Yeah, so far my lift is riding pretty damn good! Was a little of a pain to instal myself trying to reinsert the ball joints for the ucas, but other than that it’s a pretty easy and affordable lift. Thanks for the tire wisdom!
