Damn I need a lower rack, looks so good with it popped open. Much more stable looking.

It's so much better than being high up IMO. I used to have another RTT on a camper shell and this is much better. Easier to setup, lower COG and doesn't act like a sail up top, killing MPG.

Lifting these stupid tents is so much easier when it's just waist high rather than the roof of a camper... also the lower mounting makes it harder to unbolt/cutoff/steal when the tailgate is locked.

Yeah, that too. That's why I love my setup so much, my tent only weighs 95 lbs. Between that and being low, it's easy peezy to take it on and off.

I can attest to the “acting like a sail up top” for sure. It’s crazy how much it affects driving actually. Mine is about level with the prinsu but it still throws me around a little.

A tall rack does allow you to get totes, gas cans, tools, etc in the front of the bed without crawling though. The MPG hit sucks, but its a nice perk

Does anyone here have first hand experience with the TuffStuff Alpha II tent?
They look like an iKamper clone, without the cloned price
    Thanks

Anyone need an annex for a CVT Mt Rainier extended fly? Dunno what else it might fit. Sold my truck with everything on it. Then remembered the annex sitting in my garage. Never been installed.

I've seen those and they look similar. I can get the TuffStuff in Canada for a decent price.
All these tents come from a few factories, but quality varies alot over brands and specs

I just saw this on a full size truck a few minutes ago and took my time looking at it. My biggest gripe from the outside with it closed was that it’s very tall. Looks bulky. The Desert Armor I have on order is not as tall per the specs on their website

Anyone with a Mt Hood have any water issues? Just opened mine to get ready for a trip and found half an inch of water in it. I’m very meticulous about closing it properly and checking the gaskets each time too

Hey guys my service is pretty crap (at Ft. Irwin) so I can’t do much research on here. I’m considering a smittybilt gen 2 XL. I’m completely clueless on RTT and bed racks etc. any advice? Also, best place to order from? TIA.
