Hey everyone, I really hope someone can help me here. I've got a pretty new 2021 Tacoma(bought Nov last year) and I put some new 17 inch rims with a 0 offset on the truck in February. The tires used were some new Falken wildpeak at3w 265/70R17 load E.

Trucks looks great... but from the get go after putting everything on the truck, it pulls to the right. Pretty bad. Since then I've had 3 alignments done which made it slightly better, had the rims checked for balance and correct offset measurements. I've flipped the tires and rims from side to side and it still pulls to the right.

I know the roads crown that way but this doesn't feel right. Anyone that I get to drive it says they agree. I've even gone out at night when it's quite and driven on the other side of the road/crown. It doesn't pull left at all, still wants to go right, obviously not as much but eventually it'll go right. Also when I drive other peoples trucks with a 0 offset(different rim brand and different tires) it travels so much straighter. The tire place is trying to say it is my offset on the rims that's doing it. I'm finding that hard to agree with seeing as it only pulls right and I can't find any information about this problem. I'm thinking if it was the offset, with as many people modding their truck and putting 0 offset rims on a tacoma I would read something about it.

Has anyone had or heard of any issues like this? Any information is appreciated!! Thanks!!

Mine pulled heavily to the right after putting on 275/70/17 Wildpeaks. Noticed it immediately after leaving the shop. Had alignment check and it was spot on. Swapped front tires left to right and had them road force balanced at the same time. Problem went away.

Normal balance puts the wheels in the air to spin freely, a road force balance applies pressure, as if being driven on the road, and balances them that way. It's a more real-world situation balance

Right on. Thanks for the info.

Did you change the offset on your rim?

Man you really haven’t done too much to effect things...seems like a pretty odd issue. Who makes the wheels? Maybe there is a quality issue with the wheels/tires or both. I’ve lifted and swapped to bigger wheels and tires on every Toyota I’ve owned and never ran into this problem. Upwards of 10 trucks now lol. Maybe balancing beads instead of traditional wheel weights...good luck hopefully you get it figured out. A friend of mine had his tacoma aligned 3 times at a local Bridgestone and they dropped the ball...took it to better more reputable place they corrected the issue 1st time never had an issue again. Maybe go else where and get a 2nd opinion from a different place.

Ya it's a weird problem for sure. Race relations wheels were the rims. If they have been weighted and balanced though, wouldn't that mean that they will track true?? If you look at them as a chunk of metal that has been weighted and balanced. This is my first time putting bigger rim/tires on a truck. The rubber seems like it's should be fine. Falken is a good company. Unless I just got a random bad tire??

It could be the shop, they have good face to face customer service but after talking with people the reports are not positive for work quality. Going to make sure a road force balance has been done, if not, do that and go from there I guess.

Do all your alignment sheets have the same info?
Do you have one with SAI or included angles?

Just for the sake of troubleshooting and eliminating potential problems, I have 285 size tires and wheels are 0 offset. So far, my Taco does not pull to the right. AtomAnt's response could be the fix...hopefully.

I’m guessing the same as you man...something that’s balanced should remain...But you shouldn’t have to re-align a vehicle if you didn’t change the geometry of the suspension or didnt replace steering components. Wheels and tires alone shouldn’t effect your alignment much if any. Maybe your fighting an issue with a sticking caliper or bad slide on your front right brakes. Did you notice if the problem get worse when you apply the brakes? Maybe the issue is exaggerated more now with a bigger heavier wheel and wider tire. Just trying to cover a basis for you

I have the second printout, not the first.. They keep changing very small things only on the right to try and push it left. I'll upload the second when I get home

I really hope doing the road force balance does the trick.

Ya that's what I would think. I only changed the rim/tire. All the suspension stayed the same. I didn't do a alignment till after the rims and ties went on and it pulled. If it was the rim, it would pull to left as well?

Heres a pic of the alignment sheet from my wife’s 4runner after I lifted it and added 285s. The numbers are super close...you think yours would be fine as well. Damn the saga continues...

You should only need an alignment when you change the suspension. Thats strange to need one by just putting on a taller tire.

Fyi, balance beads are the best thing ever. No weights needed on the wheels. The 35's on my Xterra has them, its great at.any speed, and no, you dont hear the beads, just the mud tire hum.
