I've heard it was so hens would have time to nest without being bothered:notsure:

    Side note:
My buddy (whose property we hunted on) was fishing his pond this evening and said he heard several gobble. I'm skipping tomorrow (I need a day without an alarm waking me up :anonymous:), but I'll go back Friday...with Saturday and Sunday being strong possiblities as well (but chance of rain).
To continue a somewhat boring story....
Turkey hunting is more of a 'side hustle' for me; I like it, but it doesn't keep me awake at night...if that makes sense. Bowhunting stole my heart over 30 years ago, it seems like everything else I do is to kill time until October. That keeps me awake at night!
Good luck to you and be sure to post pics!!

    Yeah Thats fair.

Have you tried Bowhunting the turkeys? I kinda want to try it but dont really want to limit my range that much. much nicer range with the shotty or rifle.
Good luck to you too and i'll post up some randoms from the drive and hunt for sure.

I haven't tried bowhunting them mainly because I've never even shot one with a gun. I'm a turkey virgin! I hunted a couple of years on public but the hunting pressure was crazy so I gave it up. Just started going again the last couple of years.

Same kinda. all my hunting is on Public Land although the area im going doesnt have a ton of pressure. its really steep and thick so that keeps most people out. they stick to the easy spots. It will be my third year got close last year hopefully this is the year. The buddy im visiting says hes seen and hear a few out and about so we have a few to chase already

Well that’s just stupid! I have only been Turkey hunting a few times and never got anything. The first time I ever went it snowed.
