Hey i just started getting into my fathers 2013 tacoma. there a sound that come when im driving 35+ and when i get get off the gas and go back on the gas it start making a rattling sound. Also i was wondering when i get into 4 wheel drive i can start rolling and come to a dead stop without even pressing my brake. then when i get on the throttle it sound like the front or the rear is not turning until i give it a lot more gas then it starts to go but seem like its struggling. Would anyone have a clue on why it does it and did someone in counter the same problem as me.

Something is frozen or tight at least. I would lift the wheels up one at a time turn them by hand.

Different tire sizes between front and back? Are you trying to turn when it ''stops?" [you can't do this on pavement with the Tacoma 4wd system]

Sounds like you might have bad spark knock, try a FULL tank of premium gas next time, if it continues it could be a cat converter breaking apart internally and rattling. Make sure everything under the vehicle is tight and it's not something simple like a skid plate loose that rattles.

TRD, non TRD, lockers?. When in 4wd try backing up, sometimes Toyota elockers freeze up
I’ve had mine freeze up and lock wheels up, back up and it released locker

Based on his description, it sounds like he is driving around on dry pavement in 4wd.

OP, 4WD is meant for any surface that will slip. Dirt, sand, snow, etc.

If you are driving around in 4WD making tight turns on dry pavement, your drive line is binding, because the wheels are not being allowed to slip.
