Is water draining out? Try running your heat for half an hour or so, the smell comes from bacteria. Spraying Lysol with the vents blowing helps as well.

New plastic smell probably. Crank it up for awhile or just run the fan to see if it improves.

fixed...its on a built in 10 minute per hr timer. totally safe at the ppm. have used it for 6 months with no sinus irritation. got it for covid bc i have AI disease and am super sensitive to mold... and am in car a lot.

o3 also kills viruses and bacteria so its a double whammy.

I had a musty smell in my cabin and the heat/lysol trick completely fixed it. You can search on youtube, but basically run your heat on highest setting for at least 15 minutes. This will kill the bacteria. As its running, douse vents right under window with Lysol. Immediately turn truck off and let sit overnight. No more smell.

As others have mentioned, turn off recirc mode and let run for a bit before parking truck going forward.

Go to Walmart and get a can of Ozium. It's in the auto parts section with the air fresheners. Run the AC on fresh air and recirc and spray it into the cowl intake, vents, cabin filter housing (without filter), and condensate drain.

Generally, condensate drains don't plug at the exit of the tube.

Let me ask from a different viewpoint.....

When the AC is running, does water drip from the condensate drain?

Unless you live in a state with 100% humidity, in which case this is a bad idea and leads to mold growth.

This is a VERY common complaint on Toyotas and Lexus. The mold (or whatever) build-up is in the duct work, and not usually in the cabin filter. If you live in a humid climate, the problem can be much worse. We still can get that smell here in Western Colorado, which is one of the driest climates in the US. I usually shut off the AC about 2 miles from home to get rid of the condensation in the duct work before the vehicle is shut off. But, once in awhile I STILL get that smell. Our local Toyota dealer sells a disinfecting spray that I have used when the smell comes back. It actually works pretty well.

Amazing so many have figured out running outside air before shut down. Oh wait, it’s in the manual.
You know the manual. It’s the thing folks don’t read so they can come here and complain.

:D yeah it helps to go through that damn manual sometimes. I've had older A/C systems in vehicles that never got this smell issue but anything from about 1999 they seem to have this musty smell issue so its just a habit that I turn the A/C off a few miles before home and let the fan run and open the windows. My wife often forgets to do this in her Subaru and its not very pleasant for a few miles but seems to work itself out.

The Toyota kit I buy has a cone shaped piece on the end of the tube that you stick in the a/c drain tube. Like this video.

Depends on the outdoor humidity level. Mine don't drip all the time. If I want to get water really dripping next to running out of the a/c drain line I turn the heat on high for 3 minutes before I shut my truck off.
