Just spent a week on Oahu (Tacomas outnumber other trucks by like 4 to 1), anyhow, judging by what I saw, the TRD Sport seems to be the most popular. Curious if others agree with me or maybe it's different on other islands. I drove my wife nuts pointing out all the Tacos

I think the TRD is more popular here in AZ for sure.
Maintenance dudes ( pool dudes/ plumbing/ etc ) pick up the SR models.
I didn't want the bells and whistles of the TRD ( ie: extra expense ) and settled for the SR5 W4D V6 which I'm happy with.

I'll post this image for the umpteenth time ...

The scoop is very popular. Here in Maui county. I drive an SR and I'm not a pool boy. I'm an ocean boy.

Long time Hawaii resident and the Taco is really the state mascot...Tacos everywhere. Don't know that one trim line is more popular than the other, since we really reliant on dealership stock. Been waiting 7 months for my Voodoo Blue OR and it arrives this week! But year, LOTS of Tacos here and would wager more than any other state per capita.

I got the SR5 for the same reasons.

As for Hawaii I have heard the Taco is the most popular vehicle nameplate there, that would include all generations. Tail gate theft also big there.

It's a little different here in Pennsylvania. I'd say here F150 and maybe RAM are more popular trucks. You will still see more Tacoma's than any other small truck and also see many of the last gen of the ranger before ford took a pause with them.

The Tacoma is the most popular vehicle in the state of Hawaii. It seems almost every family has one, or at least someone that is closely related to you.

I was on the H1 yesterday and there were 5 Tacoma’s in a row. 3 were 3rd Gen MGM. I told my wife I should join the parade with my 3rd Gen MGM since I was in a different lane...lol

I got stuck on the H1 going west at about 4:30 one day. Whew! I wasn't expecting that much traffic - quickly learned to avoid that during rush hour(s). I did notice a lot of MGM tacos - it's got to be the favorite color.

Since everyone has a taco there - who are they selling tailgates to?

i mean are they shipping big batches to mainland ?

I actually want to know this too and not just for that area. It happens in other places too like California too. I'm sure it happens here in Pennsylvania too but not so much and not just to Tacoma's. Other trucks are vulnerable to this too.

I would guess that they are sold to parts recycling places and body shops that are shady.

I'm putting a hose clamp on mine to slow any possible crooks down.

I think they misspelled "Tesla" as "Civic" on that map... At least on the West Coast. Honestly, Civic's aren't that popular here in WA.

I haven't been to Oahu but on the 3 I have been to, I think your 4:1 is a bit light! And I stopped saying "Taco" every time I drove past one for the sake of everyone's sanity.

As far as trim goes, I didn't own a Tacoma at the time so I wasn't up on what each one was or looked like. Next trip. :D
