I am going to mount two 3x3 led pods in my rear bumper. What is the best optic to use? flood, combo, driving? I was thinking flood but not totally set.

I may wire them to my reverse but probably just run them on a separate switch. I am concerned that they will be too bright for the reverse camera. Anything I should look out for?

Since they are not for driving I don't think I need the best lights, just something that gives decent light, strong and waterproof. I'm putting diode dynamics SS3 on the front, any recommendations for the rear?

For an aux reverse light, flood is the correct optic. A 3x3 is likely a bit large/bulky and overkill, instead I’d look at a 1/2 size pod, such as Diode Dynamics SC2 or Baja S2. I’d personally opt for the DD SC2 Pro in selective yellow (which uses 4000k emitters) and then swap out the optic for a clear flood lens for 4000k output. If opting for Baja, wide cornering would be the closest choice, though it isn’t the ideal flood optic but does have a nice 5000k color temp.

If you dont mind i am asking, what is the purpose of led pods in the rear? I plan to install one too but my reasons are for back up lighting in case the tail light burned out and also when I unload my camping gears in pitch dark I have lights in the back, this led pod will be installed on top of my camper shell rack. I was wondering if there is any other purposes other than what I plan to use it for. Thanks.

I plan on using them for rear lighting when I’m camping and other outside activities in the night. The reason i was asking about 3x3 pods is because my rear bumper has cutouts for them so wanted something that fit but was not outrageously expensive.

This is what I mounted, nice and small but pretty bright. Rigid ignight floods, wired to battery on a switch in the cab.

A flood or even a “work/scene” pattern will do. I have Baja s2 pro work scene lights in my rear bumper and for side lights and they work wonders. So much easier to see when I am backing up at night. I have mine wired into the backup lights so when I put it in reverse they automatically come on, but I also have them wired into a switch so I can turn them on whenever I want.

Just installed the rear bumper and light pods. I have not wired them in yet. Waiting to get the front installed and do all the wiring at the same time. But so far love the bumper and the 3x3 just fit into the cutouts. 9F64EB70-3348-44D6-BBA9-87687D7492B5.jpg

It's also pretty easy to run the S2's below the bumper. I utilized two existing bolts used to secure the bumper cover to mount these.

I only did the 3x3 because my bumper had the cutout for that size. I think it fits nicely

Here to chime in. I just got the Rigid Sr-m flush mounts for my C4 bumper.
Amazon has them @ a great price. $172.99 for the pair. The pic is of the old design but they are the current design which is listed on rigids site for $299.99. Will be installing soon

I think I just used some 14 gauge primary wire I had lying around.
