Just referred my good buddy Adam to you @81Trekker for some UCA for his 3rd Gen. I told him he’d be very happy with your base UCA. Should I recommend he use TRI flow PTFE aerosol to routinely lubricate the uniball? We will install them ASAP in my garage. I’m super excited for him

 

It's a greaseable ball joint type.

 

The upper arms use EMF uniballs that are sealed and are greaseable through the zerks

 

I sorta knew that. For some reason I thought you offered a base option which was just a uniball. Your sealed setup is insane and he’s gonna love it

 

He has a sealed inner uniball pivot that replaces the oe bushings if that's what you're thinking of

 

So I helped my brother install his new JD fab upper arms, with the regular bushing. Which I was very surprised of how quality the bushings were compared to other brands. He’s very happy with them and they fit great! (Stock width guys never get any love on this thread lol)



Also @81Trekker I think it would be cool if you made a bolt on fit up kit for a uni filter like you pictured. And a lot of people I see are talking about axle truss kits in the long travel bs thread, or lack of for the stock axle. Would either of those be feasible. I think both would be very cool and marketable, when you guys finish what’s already on your plate with fuel cell, rear suspension and inner fenders...

 

When putting it all back together, you went one step too far and reinstalled the sway bar. Let that front suspension move as the JD gods intended. Also, nice truck. Once bitten... we'll see you in a GB soon enough. haha.

 

Well the truck gets driven 8hrs every weekend on the interstate and he wants it to drive like it’s from the factoryish. So I don’t blame him for keeping it. And at least he has already taken it off-road sway bar and all ...

 

I’m working on the UMP kit right now that will go with the inner fenders along with an engine cross brace... that way you can all throw those ridiculous snorkel things in the trash.

As for an axle truss I will never do one for a Toyota rear axle. If you’re beating on it that hard to where you’re bending housings I’d be way more concerned about your wheels ripping of when an axle shaft breaks. Also I personally would never weld a truss on with out putting the housing in a jig. Even welding an inch at a time will warp the housing. I’m sure others will tell me I’m wrong and that’s fine... I’ve only trussed 50+ housings so what do I know

 

I will neither confirm nor deny this is a real possibility. Just step up and go with a big boy axle.

 

Good to hear on the stock width UCAs. I placed an order for some a week ago along with some coil bucket gussets. Stoked to get them on!

 

I’m not sure those coil bucket gussets will work for the bushing type arms, I think it’s just for the sealed uniballs

I thought I had read on here that they even worked on the stock UCAs.

 

This is incorrect, the upper arm double shear tabs will definitely work. The sealed uni balls and OE rubber bushings have the exact same width spacing. This was done intentionally so all parts are interchangeable. One step further the arms are identical and at any time the OE rubber bushings can be removed and the sealed uni ball setup can be installed into the same arms.
