Hey guys. Looking to get a set of running boards installed to make getting in and out a little easier. I don't do any serious off-roading so no sliders needed. How are the factory Toyota running boards? This is the set I am looking at right now: https://www.tacomatownonline.com/collections/tacoma/products/running-boards. Any better suggestions? Keep in mind I am in Canada so I won't have as many options available.

Get the Toyota Predator steps. Way better looking imo

Thanks but I'm not really digging the way those look.

I have some and when I get in and out of the truck they are not natural to use or helpful at all. The use I have for them is they help me wash and wax the roof, help me clean the grunge that forms on the rear window trim,
I click my feet on them to knock off the sand and dirt before entering truck. Helps with road rash on rocker panels. Other than that they are useless for getting inside truck. I’m 5’ 11”. I have these.

I have the same situation, for me they are really for the looks. Even when washing the roof of the truck, they are so close to the body they are not much use.

Cruise Control install. Intermittent wipers Hood lights Bed Lights Sliders 3" lift 886's on Billy 5100's Icon AAL 285/75 R16 Falken Wildpeak AT3W's
I'm 5'9", and I use them all the time.

Left foot on nerf bar, right hand on the grab handle, lift and swing pointing the right foot towards the gas pedal.
    so easy!

I've got sliders now but the process is the same. I did not like having to "hop up" or stepping on the door sill to get in but that's just me.

that price on Tacoma Town does not look too bad, esp for Canadian Peso's

I need something to assist with getting in and out as I am only 5'6" and about to lift the truck a little. As it is now, I put my foot on the door sill and then slide in over the seat. This has worn a small hole at the edge of the seat and has also worn away all the paint on the edge of the door sill. Now that I live somewhere that rains a lot and uses salt on the roads in the winter, that spot has rusted. First step will be the running boards and then I need to address the surface rust and re-paint before it gets any worse.

I called my local dealership and they have that running board in stock. It will only cost $5 more after taxes. Tacoma Town Online wants $40 for shipping which makes it less of a good deal. I'll probably get this one locally just to save the hassle of waiting for it.

Those should do the job for you. I've found the factory boards are pretty good quality and this style is reasonably subtle. I've got the factory chrome tubes (they came with the package) and these are much better looking.

    Cheers.

Do they stick down as low as the tube style step bar? Ideally I want to maintain as much ground clearance as possible. I've been known to get myself stuck pretty deep in sand, mud and snow on occasion. Thanks.

I’ve been happy with the nfab nerf bars they are kind of rusted now.. but functionally they have been great

If I do replace I’d likely go with the epyx
