I have played music from my thumb drive for quite a while. Recently I have started to get little speed ups (like a casset tape in fast fwd) sound for short periods. Like 1-2 seconds. Anyone else experience this?

No, never played music from a thumb drive. But when I had my 2016 the headunit was doing other weird things like resetting all on its own for no good reason. Took it to multiple different Toyota dealerships and they couldn't solve the problem. I think lots of folks on here have had bad luck with the factory headunit on 2016s. Especially for anything less than the upgraded JBL version.

I used a thumb drive since day one with no issue's. I did get some advice in how to organize them though.

Yes. I assume it's a read issue with those blocks in the USB stick's storage. I'm rocking a completely full, 10 year-old, 16 GB SanDisk thumb drive and I'm sure it's way past its original life expectancy.

What makes me think it's individual blocks is that it happens at the same point in the same songs.

About a year ago, I reformatted the drive and copied everything back onto it from my home server. Fixed the issue (that time). I'm starting to hear it again.

I have not tried this yet. What format are your files? MP3, etc? Also, how did you format your drive prior to adding the files? FAT32? NTFS? Thanks in advance.

As Mokanic mentioned, they need to be MP3 files, and the drive needs to be formatted as FAT32.
