Those w Kings & 700s. Adjust by hand or compressor. Threads??

Hey guys, I recently picked up some Kings extended travel with resi and 700 lbs coils for my 3rd gen DCLB. As of now I have no weight upfront besides sliders but will be adding bumper, winch, skids etc soon I hope. I just wanna throw them on asap regardless if it will feel like shit for the mean time haha.

My question is, How many full rotations/threads need to show to get about a 2.5 - 3 inch lift with the 700s? (How many threads are you showing with weight too?) Post pictures!

Other question: Is it fine to turn the collar while the suspension is on the truck? or don't do it because I could mess up the threads?

Jack up the front until your wheels are at droop. Use WD-40 on the threads before turning. And when you loosen the collar screw, only turn it half a turn.

This tool saved the headache with reaching the collar holes blocked by the shock mount so I suggest you buy it. Not sure how many turns it took to reach the height I needed but I just measured hub to fender after a few revolutions until it matched the rear measurements.
Lower the vehicle after re-tightening the collar screw and drive back and forth to settle and repeat if necessary.

Do not use WD40, it stays and attracts dirt/road grime which will gumm/plug up the threads.
The collar can be turned wihout .

 

WD-40 is a water displacement solution. Can be easily washed off after adjusting the collar. Plus I fluid film my shocks and still no gumming.

650 springs.

 

I have Fox's not Kings, but I am running King 700# springs and springs is what sets height anyway In this aspect Fox and King are close enough.

I have an ARB bumper, a 8000# winch (Synth line) lots of gear and lights and I am running 3 threads passenger 7 threads driver.

Irregardless the length with weight on the truck from center of eye to center of eye should not exceed 21" per Accutune Off-road.

I am dead nuts at 21" with weight on at this set-up and my weight, your results will vary.

If your's are shorter you will need more threads.

 

Right....it displaces water. It acts as a buffer between the surface and the water therfore making water an ineffective way to clean off the WD40.
Coating in fluid film is even worse. If you want to keep them clean and dirt free coil over covers work very well.
The goal is to keep dirt out and not attract it.

 

You are correct, but there's a better alternative.

Seriously it's F'in amazing.

It's what I use for all my heims and shock bodies and rods.

It sprays wet and dries quickly, originally formulated for the landing gear shock rods on carrier based aircraft.

 

I agree that its great stuff. Its like franks red hot. I put that shit on everything.

 

I wouldn’t be wheeling if I worried about sand and dirt getting on my suspension. Fluid Film does attract a shit ton so I’ll check out Key’s referral. And of course, it’s common sense to clean threads before adjusting.

 

An ounce of prevention......IMO coil over covers are your best bet. Keeps things clean - threads, seals and will increase the time between rebuilds. Who wouldn't want that?
