Had to remove OEM flaps. Ideas for a low profile replacement?

Swapped out my stock wheels for a set of method 704s with general grabber 275/70/17s and love them.... But they rub on the OEM mudflaps in the front when I turn hard.
I pulled them (flaps) off today and can finally turn in silence.... But think I need some flaps to avoid chipping the hell out of the paint. Any ideas for something thin that won't rub again?

Check out Rek Gen or RokBlokz . They come in standard or wide and allow for adjusting. They're also flexible.

I don't think you'll find any aftermarkets with a lower profile. Most I have seen are a straight line fit with spacers to make up for the gap between the face of the flap and the mounting spot (slips on over the sheet screw). If anything you'll lose an additional ~1/2". I can add Tufskinz brand to the list of aftermarkets that fit the same.

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
    Selling the OEM flaps?

    I'd be interested

If you are talking about the spacer for the inner fastener on the fronts, I just heat molded my cheap univerals to fit. With the nicer, softer brands, you should be able to remove the spacer and hand form it in there?

    Winner winner chicken dinner!

I never gave it thought because I was not looking for the clearance. Good tutorial.

dd light bars, trd cat back exhaust, KDMax tuned, trd skid plate, 2" lift, sema wheels toyo open country at3 tires.
get an alignment, add as much caster as you can, rubbing should stop. your results may vary. (worked for my application). Ski

That will also add some heavier on-center feel, which the stock setup lacks on-road.

I've been driving off road over 40 years. The 07 Tacoma in my driveway is the only vehicle I've ever owned that had mudflaps, but they broke off in 2010 and I never replaced them. Truck is 14 years old and hasn't had mudflaps in 11 years and 140,000 of those miles. No chips in the paint. No chips in the paint of any of the other trucks and SUV's I've owned since the 1970's either.

Rokblokz wraps around the bottom of the fender flare (it bolts to the cab mount with an L-bracket for the lower attachment point). This is as much clearance as you will get for off-the-shelf flaps:

Pretty much my comment above. Tonered expanded on his heat-n-treat method.

Nope. Look closely at my Rokblokz vs tonred's picture. This whole area is completely missing with Rokblokz, because Rokblokz doesn't use the innermost factory mounting point:

    zpORbCvMy4v_LqZ4sEZtOZ5hDTISQiWIv93Lftko_a149869a52acf6695766d4c97ec6348d5e3ef598.jpg

In fact, Rokblokz will continue to function even if you start trimming away the "hump" in the fenderliner and folding the pinch weld underneath. Some folks continue to run them even after a cab mount chop by using a longer L-bracket.

    Update for the thread:
I did go with long john mud flaps (based mostly on low cost if they didn't work out) and no more rubbing. They're functional but not exactly the best looking....works for now!
