it's also free to find a ratchet strap on the side of a highway and a piece of 3/8 plywood that's been sitting in the mud since November at a job site

 

There is something even cheaper than those ideas, Just leave it alone

 

Better yet, sell the spare and make some money

 

Have you tried running the 31" BFG Rugged Fail spare on the same axle as your 34" tire? Does ABS activate spuriously?

 

have not and don't think I want to either

But that said, there are "necessary" upgrades happening. eg. changing a transfer case that has nothing wrong with it or its operation.
those frivolous mods like having a spare tire the same size as the rest will have to wait....

I took my Festing Toyota (huntsville) plate covers off, realized it probably didn't look too good. Nor do I wanna advertise them anyways..

 

That's for 1/8" and HDPE. Need minimum 1/4" and UHMW (about twice the density) to be passable as a skid. For reference, 1/4" UHMW is used in the Trail Toys fuel tank skid.

 

Anyone know where I can find 2018 torque specs for suspension/usual area of fuckery? I know a few here and there, would be nice to just see some numbers on a diagram.

Pancake a set of ratchet straps with some bolts



as a 4'x8' sheet can make 2 slabs of 35" circles for $77
still 1/2 price of the one you posted (implying you take that 4'8' sheet and cut it in half for 2 skids

 

In theory, could be better than 1/4 because if the bottom layer cracks under impact or whatever, the top layer is still good..

 

this way the ratchet straps are protected as well

Beware all the torque specs are for clean, dry threads. If you apply any corrosion protection or antiseize to the threads, reduce the torque to about 60-65% of the book value. This goes for drain plugs as well (impractical to get drain plug threads dry and oil-free). I stripped the transmission pan drain plug in my previous truck following the FSM torque spec.
