I’m considering RCI and CBI skid plates in aluminum but I’m not sure which set of skids I want to go with and what finish I want. Raw, powder coated and CBI offers a TRD grey powder coat and while the TRD grey sounds cool it will be impossible to keep clean. And I’m not sure how the raw aluminum will age, probably to a very dull finish. I know I know it’s all personal preference but I’m looking for opinions and feedback none the less. And any reference pics are always welcome.

    Thank you in advance!!

Personal preference but I like the CBI skids, in the TRD grey powder coat.

I have the TRD Pro front skid, paired with the CBI rear/trans skid (TRD grey) and they fit/mate together perfectly.

I went with the RCI in bare aluminum. Matches up fine with my TRD Pro front skid. And who cares if the color matches the front skid, you cant see them and they are there to take rocks/trees/etc which would only damage the powder coating. I've had them on for about 6 months, no noticeable corrosion, only rock rash from trips to the desert.

I have RCI bare aluminum. I like the look of it, I had it for almost 1 year now and it still looks the same.20210423_114148.jpg

Went with RCI raw aluminum looks great covers quite a bit in protection pretty easy install. Been on my truck for over 2 years minus a few scratches and being dirty are holding up quite well. Big plus looks good from the front sorry no pics...please don’t hurt me.

RCI full set of skids. Rear diff is steel black powdercoat, the only way they come. Xfer case is steel powdercoat with the drop for the exhaust line, lowest point on the undercarriage. I have an aluminum xfer case plate waiting for when I do the crossover fix on that pipe to raise it up. Transmission, engine, fuel tank and A-arm skids are raw aluminum primed with two coats of aluminum primer then 3 coats of flat black rustoleum paint. It all disappears under the truck as it should on a Cement color. Paint is an easy touch up too. Don't want any shiny stuff, personal preference.
