Wonder how many campers vagabond and gfc pump out a week. I imagine vagabond is much slower cus the way it’s built but also cus the larger amount of options.

The numbers are wildly different due to current supply chain... but I have never heard of a Vagabond failing, unlike the other one.

Late reply. Been winding my way down the Oregon coast. Yes it’s low in the back. What pisses me off is that I just got new leafs and shocks and told the shop I was putting a 400 lb camper on the back and carrying another 200 or 300 in gear. They told me it would be fine and “maybe you’ll want to add some airbags at some point.”

Like I said. Just got new leafs. Now I don’t trust these guys to do the right thing when I bring it to them.

Should I get airbags or new leafs? Confess my ignorance on this.

I personally would get new leafs. For me I’d rather have the leafs to be able to support the weight then to rely on air bags.

I'm no Tacoma expert but what about an add-a-leaf since you just shelled out for new ones.....or you could take those back with your camper on there and tell them to do better.

Yeah, I'd go back and ask for the correct leaf springs but maybe install them myself.

I would always try and cover the weight capacity with airbags with a "permanent" thing like a camper on the rear. The benefit to air bags would be if you are running empty (no camper) AND loaded with the truck, then you can maintain the ride quality while empty and still support the weight when loaded.

When I finalized my RTT/Bedrack setup.. I took the truck fully loaded with all our gear to a local leaf spring shop. They pulled the leafs, re-arched them to my specs, and re-installed. I plan to do the same thing and go back with the X1.

I was looking thru GFC's forum not too long ago at builds, and general snooping. They had a post dated January with an update on production for the V2 camper. It said they were intentionally pacing at 5 units per week so they can troubleshoot and address production issues on the V2 as they go, then will ramp up to 20 units a week in Q2.

it would depend on what you want to do. heavy wheeling the airbags wont hold up but for light wheeling and towing sure but leafs would be my choice for general and offroad use.

This is awesome. I love that this can be done. Seems like nowadays no one does shit anymore. Wonder if there’s a leaf spring shop local to me.

would highly recommend it if possible. was the simplest and cheapest way to get exactly what we wanted. We did start with an aftermarket leaf pack though. The Toytec BOSS pack.

What nuts are you guys using in the extrusion slots? Trying to find a stainless steel nut with M6 thread

My old yakima "A" anchor plates slip in perfectly at the ends.

Didn’t know you could re-arch leafs. I’m going to go see if these guys still say airbags, and then take it over to the expensive but good tire and suspension shop and get an add a leaf or new leafs. Thanks.
