I’m new to the Austin area and I’m looking to go and do some off roading soon. My truck is a stock OR 4x4 so I’m looking for something relatively easy as I’m not interested in damaging it.

Suggestions anyone? Also any interest in getting a group together for a day?

You might as well go straight to Marble Falls. Hidden falls. Off road till your little heart is content.

Like @Brofessor said, Hidden Falls is your spot. It’s an off-road park and it’s close to you. There’s groups out there all the time. Just show up and tag along. It’s doubtful anyone will tell you no.

Also, this coming up Thursday starts the Lonestar Toyota Jamboree in Gilmer, TX. It’s a Toyota exclusive event with venders, guided trail rides and several events. They reopened registration yesterday but you can do a walk up also you’re just not promised a driver bag.

@Fab’s Taco, I'll be heading out to Hidden Falls in a week or two.

Zero desire to trash my truck. Two months old, hail got me. :(

I had no issues getting into 4 Lo during our February snow/ice storm. I had my son driving it, and our caliche driveway is pretty torn up. So I said, "keep the wheels straight," and let crawl mode do its trick. I couldn't get engaged! I kept thinking, what am I forgetting? Well, he went back out, and a few seconds later, my other son was asking, "what is the truck doing?" Rolling over a 6x6 wooden block. It sounds worst from outside as you hear the ABS pump going crazy while revving the engine, but he came back grinning and said we need to go out to hidden falls.

I need to install my front camera so I can see what is over the nose! I did add Caliraised sliders as a DCLB is a long wheelbase, way too easy to nail the right rear rocker if you turn too soon.

Deadstock. Stock tires, but I've got sliders, skids plates, and the RSI Smart Cap on there. So 400 pounds heavier. I plan on skinny tires (235/85 16 KO2), but a lightning strike took out the home network, so I need to take care of that first.

Gilmer is a blast, easy trails, so I would recommend heading up there. I had a prior commitment for this weekend, so that I won't make it.

There's an area off of Bucees in Bastrop. If you're interested, we can head out in one of these weekends.

Hidden Falls is the obvious one, but I've heard about two parks both in Llano - SWR Offroad (seasonal) and Off-Camber offroad (small park). I haven't been to either but I'm fixing to go to the next SWR run in June.

Speaking of the Llano and Mason area, in addition to SWR there's also Katemcy Rocks, or K2 as well as Wolf Caves. I camped and wheeled at all three before, just not in the Taco. They have specific dates that are open to wheeling. It helps with the upkeep of the trails and keeps them from deteriorating too badly.

If you've been to HF, the park road to get to the trails at SWR is about a 3 or 4 star HF trail. There is not much forgiveness out there, but it's the best in the area if you want to really wheel.
